Minor Matters

Milb.com has a nice profile of 2004 draft pick Justin Hoyman. The important part, at least for Indians' fans:

Hoyman will be heading to Winter Haven later this week to begin his third season in the Indians organization. He's coming off a ligament injury in his right elbow that limited him to 48 innings last year, but he is healthy and ready to return to action.

Also check out milb.com's profile of Trevor Crowe. On a related note, the Indians are kicking around the idea of moving him to second base, eyeing the logjam in the outfield as well as the hole at second. I didn't rank Crowe in my top 20 because his debut didn't go well, but I do recognize his college pedigree. The Indians are starting him at Kinston, and hope to promote him to Akron by season's end.

Farm Director John Farrell talked with WTAM's Mark Schwab (look under the sound clips). He talked mainly about Andy Marte, Kelly Shoppach, Jeremy Guthrie, and Brandon Phillips.

2005 draft pick Jensen Lewis also will be writing a weekly journal at indians.com. Here's his first entry. Lewis grew up an Indians fan, so being drafted by the organization had to have been a thrill for him.
