Goleski Triple Crown?

Maybe there is a super star outfielder in the Tribe system. With three HRs today, Ryan Goleski extended his HR and RBI leads in the Carolina league and his .327 avg gets him near the top in that category also.

He may be a bit old at 24 for the A+ level and he still strikes out too much, but he's a slugger. Since Cleveland has a wealth of center field players, a power hitting guy in left field would be nice.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
I saw Goleski and the K-Tribe play last night - he went 2 - 5, both singles, 2 rbis and scored twice.  Also stole a base.  The whole team hit the ball well, it almost seemed like they were toying with the other team (Frederick Keys). They beat them 10-3.  They had two successful double steals which really made my night.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
How has Trevor Crowe looked? His numbers look to me like he's having no problems with the Carolina League.

As for Goleski, his age makes a bit hesitant to call this season a true "breakout." He was really bad last year (.212/.276/.382), so maybe someone patched a hole in his swing. His K/BB is basically 1:1, light-years better than last year.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
Trevor looks solid.  He's very disciplined at the plate, working the pitcher and waiting for his pitch (in fact the whole team seems to be disciplined at the plate). He can fly on the bases.  He hit a bouncer to the wall that looked like a routine double, but he kept on going and made it to third comfortably ahead of the throw.

On another play he was determined to go from first to third on a single to right but Sarbaugh, coaching third, tried to hold him on second, but Crowe was going full bore for third when he saw the sign. He fell trying to stop and get back, and I noticed after the inning was over I saw Sarbaugh holdng onto Trevor's shirt to keep him from taking the field until he had his say. Trevor didn't look happy.

Goleski is the player that has impressed me the most in the three games I've seen Kinston play (yes, small sample!) He has the same kind of presence that Hafner has.

I meant to mention that Kevin Dixon, promoted from MV, was the pitcher.  He was dominent through the first three innings, but the second time Frederick batters faced him he struggled a bit.  He started the 3rd inning in a 2-on (BB and an error), none-out jam, but shut down the next three hitters 1-2-3. Impressive inning.  Scott Roehl who relieved him also impressed me.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
-slaps head!-  Dixon was called up from Lake County, not Mahoning Valley.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
Thanks LeftyCatcher for your first-hand observations. From what we Cleveland-area people see, Kinston is dominating nearly all offensive and pitching statistics, which of course yields their leading W-L record.

Re: Goleski Triple Crown?
Totally O/T, but I saw Las Vegas play last night, and Joel Guzman literally towered over the field.  I would have loved to see him at SS.
