The Floggings Will Continue Until Clutchness Improves

Boxscore

The Indians let several run-scoring opportunities go by the wayside in tonight's loss. They left 18 men on base (the Royals left 15), and lost by one run. Tonight's game was unkind to television sets across the region; hopefully only plush objects were tossed, and only at safe velocities.

Paul Byrd was decent, but got the loss. He allowed his usual compliment of base hits, and walked two more in his seven innings of work. I take full blame by my mention of Mike Wood and John Buck in the game thread intro, as Wood held the Indians at bay after starter Denny Bautista left in the 3rd, and Buck homered in the 5th. Tomorrow I'm channeling Lou Holtz, so don't worry, I've learned my lesson.
