The Reds: Surprise contender. Desperate for bullpen help and a #5 starter. Feeling good about the Indians giving away Phillips.
The Indians: Done for the season. Rich in pitching despite the current trevails.
The Deal: Wickman, Byrd and Andy Brown (or insert name here) for William Bergolla and Chris Dickerson.
Rationale: Phillips mitigates the need for Bergolla. Reds are deep in OF. Byrd fine as a #5. Wickman would be a huge upgrade at closer for Reds despite recent problems. Bergolla is major league ready and makes Belliard expendable elsewhere. Dickerson looks like a good prospect.
Can you tell I'm looking for other things (rather than the current Tribe play)to occupy my mind right now? Am I selling short? Am I asking for too much? I'm pretty sure the Reds will make a deal and that the Indians should start dealing.
