Crowe Ahead of Schedule

According to the Akron Beacon Journal today, Trevor Crowe took batting practice and was running the bases at full-speed, and now could be back as early as Thursday. Considering this originally looked really serious, this is very good news!

``His recovery is going very well,'' said Antonetti, who was on the field for batting practice monitoring the Tribe's first-round pick (14th overall) in the 2005 draft.

``He ran the bases today full speed, so we'll see how he responds tomorrow and go from there. Barring any setbacks, he could be back in the lineup by the end of the week.''

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
Any word as to if he's going to play 2B when he returns? Or are they gonna leave him in the OF?

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
The word was they'd leave him in the OF this season, with a potential trial switch to 2B in the AFL/winter leagues.

Thanks for reporting that!
Hello everyone,

ASP - thanks for the good news!  Maybe our luck is finally changing, though the good recovery by Adam Miller with no setbacks would have to be considered good luck as well.  May it continue!

Go Tribe! :-)

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
The follow-up in the ABJ with last night's game is saying Crowe to be activated today or tomorrow

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
Hopefully they'll keep Brian Barton up, or maybe promote Ryan Goleski to Buffalo, because no one in that outfield really deserves to be demoted.

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
True, but I doubt the Indians would do it. Plus Drennan is doing well in Kinston.

My guess: Goleski gets promoted, and Jason Cooper develops tendonitis.

Barton is still up - he played RF tonight!
Hello Ryan,

Goleski is still at Akron, playing LF, but so is Barton - he played RF tonight.  Jonathan Van Every completed the OF by playing in CF tonight; Snyder was on the bench.

Go Tribe! :-)

Re: Barton is still up - he played RF tonight!
Must be a bitter pill for Snyder to ride the pine.  A whole lot of folks ranked him in the best 100 prospects in the game entering this year.

Ryan Mulhern was put on the disabled list with a bruised, making room for Crowe without any other promotions or demotions.

Agreed, Ryan!
Hello ASP and Ryan,

ASP - again, thanks for the info.!

Ryan - Hopefully, the Indians make a good roster move regarding the crowded Akron outfield.

Go Tribe! :-)

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
You mean a player jumping two levels in one year? IN THE INDIANS ORGANIZATION !?!?!?

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
  1.  Mujica and Perez go from Double-A to Majors
  2.  Carmona goes from Double-A to Majors
  3.  Garko goes from High-A to Triple-A
  4.  Betancourt goes from Double-A to Majors
  5.  Jason Davis goes from High-A to Majors

Enough of this myth.

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
Jay, you missed Jeremy Guthrie from AA to Majors in 2004.

Oops, perhaps that was too painful to mention :-)

Actually, none of these "double jumps" seems to have resulted in great career moves. Maybe the FO has done a good job at finding a starting point for prospects at the beginning of the season so that one jump is all that is appropriate.

However, Super Joe Inglett's double jump this year may be one of the better ones.

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
Wasn't really a double-jump for Inglett.  They sent him down to Double-A so he could get games at shortstop without disrupting the Buffalo roster.  He started in Triple-A.

Good call!
Hello everyone,

Ryan - that's a good guess - Cooper is not a prospect anymore and Goleski has had sustained success for a while now, so moving him up to AAA seems like a good guess to me.

Go Tribe! :-)

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
That really is great news.  Let's get him that last five weeks of at bats this season.  Very cool.

Agreed!
Hello everyone,

ASP - thanks again for the info. - you're just a wealth of knowledge! :-)

Looks like he's already hit a double ... and gotten picked off.

Re: Crowe Ahead of Schedule
Seems like he could fit in with the big club immediately... on both counts.
