Who survives the great 'pen turnover of 2007?
Betancourt
Miller
Cabrera
Davis
Perez
Mastny
Mujica
Carmona
I think it's going to be tough to pick just 3 of these guys to fill in the remaining bullpen spots. what if fultz turns out to have an awful spring training? the FO should not be afraid to let him go if a perez or lara show great stuff.
what with betancourts few years of established non-sucktitude when he's going well, miller's inability to stay healthy, and cabrera and davis being out of options, I see them taking the easy way out and having a pretty formidable pen which will dominate the international league.
i really hope we do not regret roberto hernandez. most especially i hope we don't make him guillermo mota, wasting a roster spot and money on him, and overburdening others with his innings.

It seems fairly consensus that Betancourt and Cabrera have a job. My wish is for Davis to get dealt for some AA guy or thrown in some kind of inevitable Garko/Guiterrez package, but I feel like he's going to get that last spot.
So my vote for what the last 3 spots in 2007 WILL be (not what I want them to be): Betancourt, Cabrera, Davis.
Ignoring Mastny and Perez in 08 would be a big mistake, IMO.
(2008: Foulke, Cabrera, Betancourt, Mastny, Perez, Miller sounds like a good one)
Doubtful Foulke is here in 2008!
Even though Foulke has a mutual option for 2008, unless he has a bad year physically in 2007 (let's hope not,) or if the Indians win the WS (or at least make it to the WS) and he really feels attached to the Indians, it's highly doubtful Foulke will be here in 2008, especially if a longer, more lucrative contract is on the table, so I wouldn't pencil in Foulke for 2008.
It's likely that a Hernandez, Borowski, and/or Foultz would be back in 2008, as you would hope one of those three at least would have a good year in 2007, and those three have club options, so the Indians have full control over where they play in 2008, whereas they don't have full control over where Foulke will play.
Regarding Davis, I too get the feeling he'll get the last bullpen spot if the comments of late regarding Davis' "breakout year" are any indication. At first, I thought we'd have to let Miller go, but I keep forgetting he still has an option left, so technically, we could keep both of them, though I doubt Miller would be thrilled with that, and overall, Miller has a better track record of success than Davis, even though Davis has better stuff and could potentially handle both righties and lefties (even though he doesn't do it consistently enough.)
It should be interesting to see what happens in Spring Training.
