On September 5 of this year I posted this:None of this cheap-assed backdoor WS championship bullshit.
I meant it then and I mean it now.
I've been waiting for the Indians to win a World Series Championship literally all my life. When they win it I want it to be special - no, not just special, but legendary. I want to remember it just like I remember the '64 Browns title - 10 point underdogs against the toughest defense in pro football and an offense steered by none other than the great Johnny U. We had no chance - none - nada - zip. So what happened - our boyz went out and shut 'em out. Shocked the World - to coin a phrase.
So now we got our backs to the wall - sudden death and not only are we up against what everybody says is the best team in baseball, but in their house - after one of the shittiest performances in play-off history. And to top it off we're up against their $100m pitcher with their Indian-killer waiting in the wings just in case he faulters. Given last night's performance - and the brouhaha surrounding one of the most decent guys on the club - Byrd - it looks pretty bleak.
But I'm all right with that. You know why? Cuz I want this championship to be remember for generations of Indian's fans to come. I want this one to be the one of legends. I want our boyz to come up off the canvas and knock this bully out - cold. I want 'em to hit those BoSox's so hard that 2-3 generations of Boston fans from now will remember the day the Indians knocked them off their perch.
So, let's get ready to rumble. Chill the PBR, heat up the soup and get ready to strap it on. Cuz like I said earlier - this is gonna be a hell of a ride!
