ESPN BIAS BULLS***

"With the Yankees re-energized and at home, the decision to pitch Paul Byrd in Monday's Game 4 at Yankee Stadium instead of probable Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia on three days' rest might just turn out to be one the Cleveland organization regrets for years. "

This is but one reason why i want the yankees to burn in misery.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
How is this bias? This is emblematic of how 'momentum' stories work.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
It's biased in that a "reach" decision -- starting C.C. on short rest -- is presented as the best possible option, when there's plenty of logic that says it's not the best option.

Also, that Bryant clown on ESPN claimed that Wedge AND Shapiro should be fired if this move doesn't work. That is ridiculous.

(He also said Rocket would be a difference-maker.)

Dude, if you read some posts around here, a lot of people believe the same thing.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
Its also worth noting that Capt. Clownshoes (Bryant) picked the Yankees to win in 4! The most astute observer, he is not.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
ESPN HEADLINE : "BUGS HELP TRIBE DEFEAT YANKS"

You read the article and it implies that the bugs prevented the yankees from win. Because of course the bugs went away when Carmona pitched right?

Im sick of the yankees period. So maybe im being too sensitive, w/e.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
I don't know. If the bugs affected our guys, I would have felt that the headline was warranted.

I do agree that there is a bias. I believe this bias is not in the quality of coverage, but rather in the quantity of coverage.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
I have to say that its in both quality and quantity.  Even in articles I've been reading this past week, the article might start out as being about the Indians, but really the meat of the articles and points made are all about the Yankees.  If the title of an article is "CC is a Great pitcher" but the article is all about how the Yankees offense is going to do against him with tags to CC at the beginning and end, I have to say that's a Yankee article and not truly giving substantive coverage to the Tribe.

Let's face it, the Indians win tonight and 7/8 of the articles will be how the Yankees lost and how Torre is fired.

Apparently headed towards a solid 2nd and 3rd in the LGT Fantasy Leagues. Eh...

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
Ok, it sounds like you are making my point. I guess I should be clear on what I mean by 'quality'. Assessments of the Indians are rooted in reality versus some fiction of how the Yankees are the unstoppable juggernaut. Their coverage of the Indians isn't Fox News-esque in quality.

When the Indians win tonight, I won't give a rat's ass about how the media covers it.

Re: ESPN BIAS BULLS***
David Foster Wallace, on bias:

May I assume that some readers are as tired as I am of this word as a kneejerk derogative? Or, rather, tired of the legerdemain of collapsing the word's neutral meaning -- `preference, inclination' -- into the pejorative one of `unfairness stemming from prejudice'? It's the same thing that's happened with `discrimination,' which started as a good and valuable word, but now no one can even hear it without seeming to lose their mind.

Oh, if only we had a decent level of discourse here!  You know, over on the Yankees blog, they're citing Vonnegut and Joyce!
