Yeah, I've been screwing with the templates.  I've wanted the right-side links to show up, with the Diaries and other stuff, but so far it has this side-effect.

Maybe I'll get zempf to look at it with me ... I'm a little rusty.

If you guys have Tivo, you can try to coorindate with ESPN radio or MLB audio. I'm going to record the game and delay the 4-5 seconds to line up with Hammy. If it doesn't work out, I'm going with mute. These guys are bad enough because they aren't familiar with either team, but the pro-Yankee puppy love of Chip Caray makes me uncontrollably angry.

Re: Game Thread: October 8, 2007
Also, I'm not sure of this Yankee dominance of Byrd... here are some of the career numbers:

A-Rod: 4-15; 1 HR; 1 BB; 6 K's
Abreu: 2-5; 2 BB
Cabrera: 3-5; 1 HR; 1 BB
Cano: 2-8; 1 2B; 1 HR; 1 K
Damon: 3-19; 1 2B; 1BB
Giambi: 3-14; 1 HR; 2 BB; 3K's
Jeter: 11-27; 3 2B; 1 3B; 1 BB; 7 K's
Matsui: 1-5
Mienkalphebet: 6-19; 3 2B; 1 3B; 2 BB; 2 K's
Posada: 3-8; 2 2B; 2 BB; 2K's

Really only Jeter has significant sustained success and Byrd has been surprisingly solid against A-Rod, Cano, Damon, and Giambi.

Thoughts?

Alright, new game. Let's forget about last night and hope we get Paul Byrd who beat the White Sox in '05. If not, all we need is a lead around the 4th or 5th inning and let Lewis and the Raffies take over.

Let's win this now!

btw ... I'm stuck with TBS commentary and they're already starting the Yankees hype.

Re: Game Thread: October 8, 2007
Disagree on that.  It hit him on the hand and he was pulling away.

I had it happen to me and I got up ready to go to first.  Of course, it was a 70 MPH pitch in college, but it was a direct hit (not a glancing blow) and the ball rolled to the pitcher, so the ump thought it hit the bat.

I too worry about that!
Hello GFP,

I too worry about that; why is it those darn Yankees always seem to get the calls, if not at the beginning, as the game goes on?  What is it - the air, the stadium, what?  And they complain about our midges?  :-)

tabler84 - I can understand why it was called a strike and I wish Gutierrez would have protected against it, but according to TBS' PitchTrax, it WAS off the plate by about an inch or so, so it really was a borderline strike at best.  Being that this HP umpire (forgot his name at the moment) is widening his strike zone for the Yankees, it's not surprising he called it, but I'd think I'd rather prefer the Indians getting called out on garbage pitches that are called strikes than chasing that garbage - at least we'll make their pitchers work and, hopefully, not get us out of a good offensive rhythm by being too trigger-happy.

Just my 2 cents.  :-)

Go Tribe! :-)
