Apparently we (me, you, and our scouting department) checked him out recently in the Dominican Republic where the former Cuban is attempting to establish residency. A link to the article is here

He's played both middle infield positions and some outfield as well for the Cuban national team before defecting. I certainly think it wouldn't hurt to give him a look, considering the dearth of middle infield depth we have within the system. There doesn't seem to be to much about him, I think someone talked about him on here a while back, but I couldn't find the diary. Anyways here's and article from Baseball America about him and also provides a link to a video clip of Alexei cranking a HR, the crowd went nuts to say the least.
