As we discuss trade possibilities the majority of the talks focus around players in our lower levels. But shouldn't Ryan Garko still be talked about as a tradeable prospect? He's proven he can hit and defend in the majors, he's cheap and has plenty of arb. left. We could move Peralta to 1st, he's shown he has the offensive production of a moderate-hitting firstbasemen and his defense at the easiest position should be above average given where he plays now. With all the talk about trading Gutz I think the man in the oven is actually Garko, given we now have Carroll to back up Barfield and Astro and Blake to back up Marte. And with Brown waiting in the wings, would you trade, say, Laffey and Garko for a guy like Jason Bay?
Also, off topic, would Ben Broussard be a good compliment to Gutz in RF given that he played the position for Seattle last year and is now a FA? He could be cheap and pell Gutz when he can't handle right handers, just as Broussard can't handle lefties.
