Carlos Silva

has received a 4 year 48 (forty-eight!!) (For-tee ate!!!!) million dollar deal with the Mariners.  i don't know if these are enough characters to qualify for a diary but i'll just say that bill bavasi is dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb, and that these are the kind of deals that throw entire free agent classes on their heads and make other bums like silva believe that they should get that kind of money and makes studs like CC think they should be getting 25 mil. wow.

Re: Carlos Silva
Jeff runs a pretty nice blog over there.  Man...glad I'm not a Mariners fan, though.

Re: Carlos Silva
Agreed on both points.  I would throw something through a wall every time they made a move.

Re: Carlos Silva
Cliff Lee and his contract are looking more and more appealing as the market quality and quantity gets thinner and thinner and the contracts get thicker and thicker

Re: Carlos Silva
It's the cost of developing your own pitching. And the idiocy of not being able to find a cheaper pitcher who can do what Carlos Silva does.

But of course, the Mariners are not the Cleveland McDucks, and are spending what it takes to win.

Re: Carlos Silva
Wow.  I know he was a lot better last year than he was in '06, but... eeeish.  That's awful.

He's making more money than anyone on our pitching staff next season.

Re: Carlos Silva
Well, logically, we're probably looking at a $165,000,000,000 contract.

Re: Carlos Silva
how does one make an estimate of the productivity of CC's 27-31 years versus, say, buchholz' 23-27 years, or hughes' 22-26 years?
