A little tribe help

Hey guys a miserable Ranger fan here, and as usual I am about to the point of using a sharp pencil to just go ahead and take out my eyeballs so I don't have to watch anymore bad baseball.  It sucks being a Rangers fan.

Anyhow the reason I swam over this way is Borowski looks pretty uninspired as your closer, and the tribe looks like they are going to win a lot of games this year.  Trying to get interested in my fantasy team - if Borowski is replaced who takes his spot?

95 year old Roberto Hernandez?

Just curious - maybe I can pick up a guy that might eventually get me some saves.

Good luck this year.  I hate the White Sox, and you guys are better than Detroit.

Re: A little tribe help
Borowski isn't going to get replaced unless he starts blowing a lot of saves, regardless of his ERA is.

We have a high tolerance for otherwise worthless pitchers who simply shut the door-see Wickman, Bob.

If Borowski does fall apart, which I'm not holding my breath for (a proven closer is a proven closer, folks. He puts grit onto his pitches.), I think you can basically roll the dice between Betancourt, Roberto Hernandez, Cabrera, and Tom Mastny. It will depend on which of those guys is pitching the best at the time. Gun to my head? I think it would be Betancourt.

Re: A little tribe help
Whaddya mean Borowski looks uninspired?  That kind of talk is sacrilige around here. I mean he's a proven closer!  He's our relief ace!  Replacing Borowski - now that's funny!

But if I were you I'd pick up Betancourt or Cabrera, I'd say it's 50/50 - perhaps 40/60 the way FCab has been pitching lately.

Re: A little tribe help
As a sidenote, I think most amusing is that Borowski would probably be okay with a demotion. He was totally prepared to compete with Foulke, despite the fact that he probably could've gotten a guaranteed gig elsewhere.

In short, I guess it seems to me that Borowski knows he's not all that good and players like that absolutely crack me up.

Re: A little tribe help
Agreed. He was, though, about the randomest closer in the world with the Cubs, and I suppose that would stick with a more humble guy.

Re: A little tribe help
I think Wedge would go with the other proven closer in our bullpen if forced to make a switch...Oldberto!  But we're all hoping the switch isn't needed.

Re: A little tribe help
So, to summarize just our first three posts, you have:
  1. He won't be replaced
  2. Betancourt
  3. Cabrera
  4. Hernandez/Oldnandez
  5. Mastny.

Good luck with your squad!  Let us know if we can help in any way in the future.

Re: A little tribe help
I think Betancourt will get the first opportunity after Borowski.  If you're in a keeper league, I'd pick up Cabrera.

Re: A little tribe help
K-brera is probably the closer of the future but Betancourt would probably get the first shot this season.

Re: A little tribe help
Unispired? Perhaps.

Tied for most saves in the majors? YES!
