Aaron Laffey - exceeding their expectations; didn't think he'd have as much success at the AAA level as quickly as he has; they thought he could compete at that level, but he's had some very nice performances.
Andy Marte - a lot of things and adjustments they've asked him to do over the last few years; they think it might be starting to come together. Andy can't try to hit 30 HRs in 3 games; he needs to think of himself as a gap-to-gap hitter and let the HRs come. They'd like to ideally see him hit more doubles to right-center, as that would be a sign of him really progressing to the hitter they'd like to see him become, and just let the HRs come naturally, not force them.
Low-A Lake County:
RHP Steven Wright - great success early on; high ERA due to some HRs given up, but K/BB ratio is very good. He struck out a couple of 2006 1st-rounders and a 2005 1st-rounder yesterday. He can get guys to swing and miss. Could be moving out of LC very shortly if he continues on his current path.
UPDATE: Eric Wedge just announced that LHP Jason Stanford will be brought up to start Thursday's game against Florida.
Jake Westbrook - 5 IP; 1 tough inning, but didn't walk anyone, threw around 70 pitches. They'll see how he feels tomorrow, have him throw a bullpen in a few days, then decide if he needs another rehab start or not.
