Maroth ---> Cardinals

Cardinals acquired Marotha from the Tigers

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2913104

I guess they are making room for Rogers, Durbin and Miller. Considering his recored against the tribe, I really cant complain.  I wonder what kind of moves, if any, will the tribe make this trade deadline.

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
Will be interesting to see what they are getting in return. Based on what we have learned this year, it is not a great idea to be trading away SP's.

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
They're getting Nate Robertson back too any time now right?

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
Yeah, both Rogers and Robertson are coming back, so Maroth got the boot.

That's one lefty soft-tossing junkballer to deal with.  See ya, MM.

Hearing a rumor that the PTBNL is Braden Looper when he gets off the DL.

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
So the Tigers, forced to make a move due to pitching depth, are going to get another pitcher?  Hmm.

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
Yeah, I dunno. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense given that Looper's been a starter all year, but he was closing for the Mets a few years ago. Given the injuries/ineffectiveness in their bullpen, maybe that's what they're thinking. Like I said, just a rumor I'd read somewhere.

Re: Maroth ---> Cardinals
Just came from someone in the thread at http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/newsstand/discussion/rosenthal_detroit_deals_maroth_to_st_ louis/ -- I believed it cause it sounds believable, mostly. Could be a prospect, though. Who knows, really.. it's mostly a move cause Rogers is coming back, right?

Re: Maroth --- Cardinals
I couldn't see the Cardinals doing that. Looper has been - by far - the Card's best starter this year.  Granted, that's not saying much... but you don't do that for a guy with an ERA over 5.
