Dontrelle Willis?

http://www.faketeams.com/

According to this blog, and it is just speculation, the Indians could be a match for Dontrelle - since we have a nice amount of OF and C prospects to give.
I personally think this would be a fun trade to explore but I'm not sure how much better this makes us.  I would love to have CC and Dontrelle on the same team - they would be hilarious!

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
eh....I'm not as high on the D-train as I once was. Certainly he would be better than Cliff Lee, but looking at his numbers, I'm not sure he's better than any of our other starters (including Byrd). Youth of course is on his side, but I'm looking at it as how it would effect us this year.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
I think it would be fun, but as hans said, probably wouldn't make us any better, especially since we'd probably have to overpay for him.

Agreed - I wouldn't mind having Willis either,
but at the price the Marlins would ask for him, I'd have to say "no."

Just my 2 cents.  :-)

No. I don't like Willis, never have and never will

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
No, he isn't very good in the NL. Why on earth would we want him in a league where hitting is actually a priority? Bad idea.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
I'd take him. I don't think most of our OF/C prospects are anything special truth be told. But the bigger problem I see is that we don't need a SP. The only long shot chance I see would be if we pulled the old double trade, meaning we would trade for a SP and acquire wills as a replacement.

I actually think this idea has some merrit to it. Trade a SP for a big bat and then package Gurz or Fransisco and trade for Willis.

Of course this is unlikely and not my first choice as far as trades. But it's interesting nonetheless.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
Unless you're packaging them with Miller and Lofgren, the Fish won't bite. They've been asking for three big prospects for a year or two, and the price actually seems to be going up as D-Train does worse. I don't get it.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
I actually wrote a big diary about trying to get Willis last year when the Indians were first really going into the tank. Shot in the arm, etc.

It's even less realistic now. Willis is not very good and Shapiro is very, very smart. I think he'd go for another Marlins pitcher before Dontrelle.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
It could be Scott Olsen. I can't make it out yet.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
We don't need any of Florida's starters now that we've signed Koronka.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
Funny, I mentioned Dontrelle as possible player for the Indians a few weeks ago.
Champion of the Kelly Shoppach for Catcher and Franklin GutiƩrrez for Right Fielder campaigns.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
He's only pitching better than Cliff Lee right now (everyone else in the rotation is better than Willis). I'd take him over Lee, but Fla wants more than he is worth in trade (at least I've been led to believe so).

Yes, but you aren't a reputable blogger.

Re: Dontrelle Willis?
I could see this as some sort of plot for a short comedy piece that would run between innings on the scoreboard or on STO, or as a way of getting The Dugout's "Crook Hat Club" to start assembling on one team, but other than that Willis isn't really much of an improvement over either what the Indians have now, or could bring up from the minors.
