Akron Aeros vs. Connecticut Defenders

All,
With MiLB unbalanced schedule, my hometown Aeros only come to CT once: They play the CT Defenders (in Norwich, CT) once or twice a year. They play today (the 31st, tommorow, and thursday) Dodd stadium is nice, some folks went there for the minor league all-star game that got fogged out. If anyone is local, feel free to drop by and say hey at the game, i'll be there tommorow.

I used to be local there until I started going to school in Boston.  I actually worked at the World Gym that you have to drive by to get to Dodd.  Clemens, Justice, Soriano, Wells and others passed through on their rehab stints.  Have fun at the game.  I heard they had Long Trail on tap so be sure to drink plenty of that.

Hey, I may go down, but this is a busy time of the summer for me and I just moved further away from Norwich (to Hartford).

Re: Akron Aeros vs. Connecticut Defenders
You guys do know that New Britain is in Connecticut, right?

We may try to catch some games this month in Erie, Harrisburg, Reading ... possibly even Akron.

I love going to Wilmington to see the K-Tribe, but for some reason I find Double-A to be the most interesting.

Re: Akron Aeros vs. Connecticut Defenders
Yeah, and New Britain has a slightly nicer stadium as well, but I'm going back to Akron this weekend and through the Yankees series.

Re: Akron Aeros vs. Connecticut Defenders
So, game thread...

Sean Nottingham is an interesting prospect; He mixed his pitches well, and had only given up 2 hits in 7 innings of work. Unfortunately, he walked a few and the 2 hits were both for extra bases, so he gave up 3 runs. He looked very dominant at the AA level, though, keeping hitters off balance all night.

Ryan Goleski hit a home run the stadium said went 410 ft, and it looked further than that. It cleared the entire stadium, and really impressed the crowd. His average doesnt show it, but that kid has some major pop in his bat.

Trevor Crowe showed off some of that blistering speed chasing down some fly balls, but grounded out 3 times weakly to second base. Hope he gets it turned around, sooner than later. He's actually smaller than I thought he was.

Another kid to watch is Jordan Brown; he's raking in AA, and has a good clean stroke. The ball really jumps off his bat. I imagine he'll be in AAA sooner rather than later.

Thanks! Let me know if anyone heads to New Britain, i'd be all for checking out a game there. There's also a triple-a team in Pawtucket, RI where the red sox AAA affiliate plays; if buffalo comes down, i'd be happy to pop over.

God truly does hate cleveland sports.
