Are we ready, as fans, to finally win?

Is it more about the journey or the destination?

I wouldn't know.  As a 28-year old Cleveland fan, I was baptized by The Drive, The Fumble, and The Shot.  Joe Table further cemented my understanding of why God Truly Does Hate Cleveland Sports, as one signature on this site so aptly notes.

I recently told my wife, "I just want one Cleveland championship in my lifetime.  Just one.  Anything else is gravy."

I've declared that one title would allow future failures to melt away; I envision watching the Browns lose a Super Bowl and saying, "That's okay, I'll pop in my DVD of the Tribe 2007 World Series win.  Everything is fine."

But is that true?  What does winning feel like?  Do you become greedy for more, or does it erase the sting of painful memories past and future?

As a Clevelander, I scoff at every Boston fan who bitched and moaned about the Sox not winning a World Series for 86 years.  They had the Celtics and the Pats titles to gloat about.  We've got the Cleveland Crunch.

But part of our identity is being a fan in the most tortured sports city.  So I ask: What happens if we actually win?
