Game Thread: ALCS Game One

Go Rays. Now, for the 75-word filler:

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays announced their roster for the American League Championship Series and, as expected, they went with 11 pitchers and 14 position players, which translated to right-hander Edwin Jackson being added to the roster and outfielder Eric Hinske being removed.

Having enough arms in the event of a pitching catastrophe in a seven-game series became the overriding reason for going with 11 hurlers.

by APV on Oct 10, 2008 9:45 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Humanity is irrational and I was scarred by having my high school football coach teach me economics in high school.

by bewwolv on Oct 10, 2008 9:49 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Do you mean dorm or what?

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 9:52 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yea, I just don’t know where students live. I am an MBA student at Case, but I live on the west side.

by bewwolv on Oct 10, 2008 9:53 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh, okay. I’m on South Side, top of the hill. It’s Carlton Rd.

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 9:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Being around Case, its hard to figure out where the dorms are. Or where the classes are, for that matter. Everything seems to run together.

by bewwolv on Oct 10, 2008 10:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah. Do you know where Severance is? The intersection of Adelbert and Euclid? The main quad starts on the southeast corner of that.

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 10:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

also, freshman live in the middle of nowhere. last year sucked.

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 10:02 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yea, the old Case Institute of Technology, right? Most of my time is spent over at PBL, on Bellflower. That would be a great area to live in, with Little Italy and the museums and whatnot.

by bewwolv on Oct 10, 2008 10:15 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yup, it’s the old CIT quad.

Across the street from PBL is the Mather Quad, which is where all the language/humanities classes are (mostly). And actually, where I live is about 5 min from Little Italy, too.

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 10:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I had a buddy that went to Case Law. He lived in the same area. Do you like it? We never really found the right places.

by NickFantana on Oct 10, 2008 10:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I love it. Among students the trend is apparently to hate South Side after living here for a year, but I can’t imagine why. You’re so much closer to campus than the rest of the housing. The Village is helluh expensive, anyway.

by Voltaire on Oct 10, 2008 10:19 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Are there any decent bars around campus?

by bewwolv on Oct 10, 2008 10:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

We always just went up to coventry. There are shuttles and such.

i guess i should have jumped into this conversation instead of my own lonely post at the bottom. while it may be because i can walk (or because i’m not a college kid anymore), i prefer the lee road bars more than coventry.

You know Selig? Ombudsman.

It’s an awesome place — perfect for college. Kinda shitty but awesome. It’s attached to an art studio and literally right next door to Valentino’s. Washer/dryer in the basement, HUGE living room, nice sized dining room and kitchen. All one floor with neighbors on the second and third floors.
