Philly and Cleveland, kindred sports towns
Our own Turkmenbashi (writing under the pen name "Phil Kehres") makes his debut on iVoryTowerz, a group blog about American culture and society, and artfully explains why a Phillies victory would bring Cleveland its first championship since 1964.

So we can’t discuss politics but we can blatantly have moderators posting pro-Philadelphia propaganda in the midst of a pseudo-election?
Rabble!

I was being facetious, and of course we’re all proud of Phil.
But still.

Jay, huge thanks for the shout-out.
Everyone else, thanks for the kind words. And please, I’m open to any and all criticisms. I realize this probably wouldn’t even pass as a good comment here, but it’s a much different audience.
Still working on getting that piece in Esquire with Scott Raab.

Well lah-tee-dah. Too big for your britches, I say, Phil. Go back to your roots: inspiring undercooked Neyer cultural commentary.

as a student (literally, i’m a history major but my primary focus is american culture) i will still rout for the rays, i mean, come on, bj upton: amazing. however, i will read that blog from now on. hmm, to conclude, i’ll be honest, i’m drunk so my thoughts are jumbled so much that i started typing three different sentences and forgot the point behind all of them. go rays! i mean come on, this is like your local diner taking over friendly’s and forcibly instituting the happy waitress over the happy ending.

Hey guys, long suffering Phils fan. Appreciate the support and I’ve always rooted on the Tribe in the AL playoffs due to the similar amounts of utter pain you guys deal with.

Good to have you. Go Phils!*
*You’ll notice that I do not speak on behalf of all, or necessarily even a majority of, Indians fans. Pretty much all of us rooted heavily for the Rays to make it this far, and many are continuing with that. Nonetheless, your guys have the support of a solid chunk of us.

Yes, but I wouldn’t say any of us dislike the Phils or specifically root against them.

Right. I’ll always have a soft spot for losers. But go Rays.
