Suck it, Chicago.

Well, more specifically, yeah. But it never hurts to spread the “suck it” love to all Chicago sports teams.

they’ve been sucking it for quite awhile

Also!

Wedge looks awful

That looks like a button-up sweatshirt. Weird.

Yeah it’s unnerving. Kind of like a “Dr. Evil” getup.

Shap and Wedge look like they could be a slapstick duo with those hairstyles.

Shapiro: “Well, we just told them [the owners] it’s an odd year, and in light of that, the bullpen has a good chance to be good.”

Wait did he really say that?

He has to. Maybe this is his way of “winking” at us in public to let us know.

What I meant to say was….

We need give him a code. Referring to GLBC is probably too subtle, calling other major league cities “hellholes” would probably cause more of a stir than Savage’s email, so we’re left with comments about bags of money falling from the sky or references to Judy Blume novels.

Come on Mark, we know you’re out there. One comment about Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret, and we’ll keep this just between us.

With the lines of communication open, we can figure out a way that he can tip us off about lingering injuries, players the team’s interested in acquiring, or when a deal is done before it’s actually done.

How about on the day he fires Wedge, he refers to him as WEE?

Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

Your first comment gives you the answer to your second.

It was clearly a joke, but it was great to see him make that joke.

by Jay on Dec 18, 2008 3:54 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Is there an archive of this anywhere?

by Voltaire on Dec 18, 2008 4:00 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, I took it as a joke, it’s just so incredibly awesome that he made it.

So, shouldn’t it have been a 2 year contract for ’09 and ’11 with an option for ’10?

Shapiro looking at Wood like a proud father.

Gotta admit, I’m pretty charged up seeing him in the Indians cap and jersey.

i’m really, really, really ready for baseball to start. i’m going to be down in AZ next week and am planning on buying my spring training tickets and getting my first look at Goodyear.

by APV on Dec 18, 2008 2:23 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I was planning on going out there for ST as well. I wonder if tickets will be hard to come by if I wait, or should I get them now to be safe?

Tiny even. We’d better get Danvail on this. I propose a stakeout at the local Kohls.

if you hung around after the presser, it was replaying The Point After with Donovan, Rutigliano, Grossi, and Dieken…. talk about an extreme swing of Cleveland sports emotions.

You know Selig? Ombudsman.
