We're in on Wigginton
Boston Globe is reporting that us, Pirates, Giants, and Reds all would like Wigginton as a super-sub.
We certainly seem more attractive than those teams.

The article only mentions the Reds being interested in Wiggy as a super sub.
I’m still rooting for a Lowell trade though.

I’m confused by the syntax. It says the Reds would like him “as a super-sub, in the outfield as well.”
My interp was that everyone would use him as a super-sub (sort of) but the Reds would use him as an OF/IF swing player.
I don’t think this Boston Globe writer has any idea in actuality, so whatever.

Like WD said, it doesn’t say that we want him as a super sub, just that CIN does.
It would be a reasonable pick up on the right terms. In the poll I posted before 74% of the people said they would be OK with his signing on either a 1 or 2 year deal.
If we do go after him, I don’t think he will see less than 400AB. I don’t think we would pay the $5M+ per year it would take to get him, only to use him sparingly. I think it would pertty much be the end of Marte.

If we require him to start and give him a reasonable offer, I can’t see him ending up anywhere else.
The “super sub” pitch wouldn’t do it for me.

One thing to consider. I’ve heard Wiggy is looking for a deal bigger than Blake’s. (If I I find the link I’ll post it.)
Of course, looking for and signing for are two different numbers. But still, I’m skeptical of signing Wiggy for anything more than 2yrs/10 mil. And even still, I’d much rather sign a way better player for twice that amount.

Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
“The Twins like Ty Wigginton but believe he’s looking for a bigger contract than the three-year, $17.5 million deal the Los Angeles Dodgers gave Casey Blake. So the Twins have had little to no dialogue with Wigginton’s agent, Dan Lozano.”
If that’s what it takes to sign him and they I hope Shapiro kindly smacks him in the face.

wow, let me try that last sentence again
“If that’s what it takes to sign him, I hope Shapiro kindly smacks him in the face.”
I’m having a serious case of brainflatulence today.

Casey Blake Redux. This includes all the good/bad that Casey brought with him.

One positive about Wigginton is that he absolutely crushes lefties.

Hm, that does actually fit really well with our mostly-lefty outfield. (I can count!)
