MLB Network launching in 50 million homes on 1/1
Until the launch, Harold Reynolds and Hazel Mae are running in a constant loop promoting the network on the new channel.
The first real program is at 6pm (ET) January 1 -- Hot Stove, a daily (M-F) show in the off-season.
During the season, MLB Tonight will run as a live studio show from 6pm until the last game is over. We'll see how Baseball Tonight responds.

MLB Tonight sounds pretty cool
Anti-Ben Fran before it was cool.

I’m really looking forward to it, if nothing else as an alternative.

I read somewhere (Shysterball, I think) that on the first day they’re showing Don Larson’s perfect game, complete with the original announcers and commercials. That should be interesting.

You think they’ll cover small market teams or pull an ESPN?

I imagine it will start out fairly balanced, but it won’t stay that way.

This is actually working, by the way. I fell for it once. Ok, twice.

once for me.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.

I would hope that MLB would be smart to realize that fans want to see good teams, not just good big market teams. If the best game of the week is Tampa vs. Minnesota, then so be it. For years the FOX formula was that almost every game they televised would have a least one team from New York, Chicago, or LA – great way to maximize your ratings, but horrible for the long-term health of the sport.

Long-term health of the sport? You’re confusing me.

MLB.com already pushes the Bostons and Yankees in their wireless services, so I bet they quickly get in the ESPN groove.

Everything I’ve seen is that it won’t…
…but I haven’t looked too terribly hard.

Well that’s it then. I’m out.

I don’t think it’s on Dish Network yet, but I just emailed them to ask if them were getting it. Also, if you go to the MLB Network website, you can find if your TV service will have the network and if it doesn’t you can send them one of their prewritten emails telling them you want it.

I did that too. But if Andrew’s not on Dish, I’m not sure what the use is anymore.
