Some highlights, for those of you looking to melt your brain from stupidity:

Whats the sound birds make?…..CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!! Dolan. you had your childhood dream of owning the indians happen, now sell the team dammit!
Posted by birdietrucki on 12/05/08 at 1:08PM
Nobody will be able to afford to go see the losers play anyway. So who cares if they acquired a no name pitcher. I’ll bet they start to harvest their few good players like Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee. The Dolans are cheap skates and we will never have a winning baseball team in Cleveland with them as owners.

ss15, IGNORANTER? YOU MUST BE AN IGNORANTER HILLBILLY FOR EVEN USING THAT EXPRESSION! ON THE SHELL SHOCKING SIGNING, HELL BOB FELLER COULD WIN MORE THAN 5 GAMES OUT OF 20!! I AGREE WITH HUGETRIBEFAN,HELL EVEN THE WRITERS WERE EMBARRASED TO PUT THEIR NAMES ON THE ARTICLE! LET US KNOW WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING NEWSWORTHY. PLEASE MY EYES OR BRAIN CAN’T TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS BULL SH—!!

I refuse to read this. In fact, FLAG.
People just don’t understand the different meanings behind different moves. Like everything has to win a championship.
Steel Nick
Check out one of the “writers” over at Dugout Central:
Complains about Jason Tyner
Complains about Jorge Valendia
Complains about Sal Fasano
I take him to task in the last two. I must admit .. I enjoy reading his articles because they invariably prove to be completely wrong in the long run.
In fairness, I pretty much blew a gasket when we called up Tyner too.
I seem to recall advocating a little for Blanton, too, and not finding much support for the idea.
This is a party foul, Pronktastic. Just because you lived among a leper colony for a few hours, doesn’t mean you get to wipe all of our faces into your soiled garments.
This is an honest question: Has any LGTer ever gone in to the cleveland.com forums and tried to rationally, patiently deconstruct every idiotic comment in a thread? I’m curious to know the results from this kind of exercise.
I think I can do it. As in, I think I can summon the patience and temprament required to go back and forth with those folks. Recently I exhausted more than six thousand words going back and forth via email with an uber-Catholic friend who declared that abortion is worse than nuclear war. I’m not saying this to get political; I’m merely pointing out that when many others would throw their hands up, I come back for more. (Eventually that exchange ended with me making no progress and her making no progress, but that’s to be expected).
Anyway, should I do it?
trying not to work on the book?

You’re mad! No one can survive that kind of stress on the mind. You’ll never come out alive. Don’t do it, you’ve got too much to live for…

No. What I have done is find one or two rational people there and personally invite them to come here instead.

Hmm, maybe it is folly. This morning I see that, in a Cavs thread, one poster made the glaringly obviously sarcastic comment that if the Cavs lose 17 of their next 20, they’ll be a .500 team and no longer much good. The forum went ballistic, convinced he was serious. Click here for the awesomeness.
alright, I’m actually gonna click. I’d better not be let down.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Snowfall, I have never seen a more idiotic comment
Snowfall your defeatest additude is sad
Snowfall’s stupid
Snowfall’s comment might be the DUMBEST comment I have ever read in a sports forum
Enough about Snowfall, he is an idiot
Snowfall’s comment = absurd
Snowfall, just melt away into nothing you loser
Snowfall, I feel sorry for you dude. You are missing some great basketball
Hey snowfall, were you born an a-hole, or is it something you practiced at
Snowfall…. Ya know if the sun goes out tomorrow we will all die
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
Potential long reliever/spot starter? Next season’s Scott Elarton replacement? Guy whose name is an anagram for “atom hook”. “moat hook” and “am hoot ok”? AAA roster filler? He’s going to pitch in somebody’s minor league system next year, why not ours?
I think he makes a fine replacement for Bullington.

I’m disappointed that his early numbers with the Yokohoma BayStars don’t seem to include any holocene slaughters.
No sooner do I write that then my browser unexpectedly quits. Every internet provider I’ve ever had has let me down, as have most of the machines that I’ve used.
I’m happy with my 15" Power Book G4, the internet in general.
I’d like to give a shout out to: Wikipedia, LGT, Baseball Reference, Amazon.com, MLB.com, All Music Guide, Google’s search engine and a variety of Google Apps, for being reliably good.

i’m not sure if this is my browser (I usually use Safari) or the LGT site, but all that speed the site had when v2.0 was first released seems to be slowly going away. I often find pages waiting either for ads to load or some sort of google analytics file to load before LGT pages become navigable. Not the most annoying thing in the world, but could be better.

Yeah, for whatever reason the ads sometimes take forever to load and prevent me from Z-ing until they’re done. I can scroll down, and read things, but that’s so…. primitive…
Actually SBN is the only place I’ve encountered the magical Z function, which is my favorite thing about it, interface-wise.

I have that problem too. Then there’s the times it shows like “40 new” and I click and the yellow isn’t there, preventing me from Z’ing, and me saying F it, I’m not manually looking for new ones.
Travis Hafner is overrated. Clarity is underrated. David Dellucci is David Dellucci.
sometimes, even after everything’s done loading, it has decided that i can’t z through things. So yeah, i just f it then and pretend nothing important was said.

Yea that happens too, but usually after clicking in random spots, it’ll start to Z.

The “no Z” problem is usually a matter of the right frame not being “active” in your browser. If you wait until it’s done loading and then just click once anywhere in the main story text, usually “Z” will snap to life.

Flashblock is the key plugin. Instead of displaying the crap Flash movies that are plastered all over and are 99% ads, it displays a nice little block with the flash logo inside it. Simply click the ‘F’ to load the movie. I makes pages load SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much faster.
Don't be stupid. PUT IN MELOAN.
There’s no way Athletics Nation could offer any software that would be worth exchanging it for…
