Who in the world is Edward Salcedo?
Saw this note from everyone's favorite grumpy old man, Paul Hoynes, in today' PD:
"We've talked to Scott a couple of times," Antonetti said.
The Indians have a good relationship with the 6-2, 197-pound Salcedo. He's trained in their academy in the Dominican and he's from the same hometown as Junior Betances, one of the Tribe's staff members.
A rumor recently had the Indians signing Salcedo to a $4 million to $5 million contract. The Indians denied it, but they are trying to find a creative way to get the deal done.
Salcedo has been described as a potential five-tool player. Speed reportedly could be his one shortcoming.
Salcedo's name is new to me (I didn't get any hits in the LGT database), so I did a quick google search (yes, procrastination has hit hard). It yielded this interesting blog entry, from MVN.
In light of our recent discussions about the Indians' drafting and acquisition of international prospects this could be another example of how Shapriro et al. bring 'impact' types in the system. OR, maybe more likely, Salcedo is Sidd Finch reincarnate.

Thanks for the support! :-)
I'm still here - just been very busy lately. I do try to check in from time to time, but haven't had much chance to post lately. It's been the same at MinorLeagueBall too.
Regarding Salcedo, there's been a lot of rumors, but little substance behind them. From what I heard, the Indians are interested in him, but aren't willing to pay Boras' "inflated" price tag for him. The Yankees are interested as well, but so far, they supposedly haven't signed him either, so it seems they too aren't that willing to pay that much for a 16-YO who is supposed to be highly regarded, but with limited data and limited sightings (I presume there's been a few sightings,) the Indians, Yankees, and everyone else seem to want to wait Boras out until he drops that price tag a bit to help mitigate the risk involved in taking a 16-YO that might or might not develop as expected.
Just my 2 cents.
Again, thanks for the support - I'll try to post more in the coming months - stay tuned! :-)

Re: Who in the world is Edward Salcedo?
Just scanning the recent history to this story, Boras once again comes off as a complete tool.
