Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
Any interest for the H2H league?  I had fun there last year.  It's as simple as me clicking the "renew" button to get it going again.

I'm also thinking of doing a more general all ML league as well (roto v. H2H depends on interest).  Any interest in that type of league?  I'd rather kick the arse of people I kinda know (in that weird internet way) as opposed to a random league.

Now that the Bedard bandwagon has officially crashed into the Maritime Seas, solely the local "Barfield Bounces Back Believer."

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
I prefer head to head as well. I may suggest going to ESPN, their leagues are head and shoulders above Yahoo and still free. I switched over last year and it was really considerably better. I'm in either way though.
I swear, next year is it.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
I would be up for a H2H league also, they are my favorite.

My vote is for Yahoo! though, I think ESPN's displays and interface are messy and confusing compared to the clean and easy Yahoo! fantasy game.    Only exception would be if you want to do a keeper league, which I think ESPN offers for free as of now.  I'd be up for anything, I just want there to be baseball!

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
We ran our head-to-head league at ESPN last year and it was a nightmare.  If you want your commissioner to have any control whatsover, I highly advise not going with ESPN.

If you don't mind abiding by their default rules, then it's usable.

You know Selig? Ombudsman.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
Really? I am surprised to hear some of the things people are saying. I was the commissioner of two leagues there last year that were completely customized with our own scoring rules, statistics and keeper rules. Maybe we did something different. Like I said though, I am in either way.
I swear, next year is it.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
Our issues were with lineup submissions.  Our head-to-head matchups were weekly, and lineups locked at 3:00 a.m. Monday morning.  They wouldn't allow us to change it until August (it was changed to 3 hours before first pitch... roughly 4:00 for night games, and 10:00 for day games).

Also, the DL designations were messed up.  We had multiple problems with a player being on the DL, designated so by ESPN, yet it was not an option in the drop-down menu for line-up submissions.

Any time you tried to make a future lineup submission that involved moving various players to DL or dropping them, we received error messages.  Add that to their unwillingness to allow our commissioner to make changes, it became quite a headache.  I emailed their fantasy support people numerous times, and not only did they not help, they claimed that their platform was fine when it was obviously throwing us unwarranted error messages.

You know Selig? Ombudsman.

espn was all kinds of messed up last year - especially to start the season.

I have no idea how to do fantasy baseball and I've never done it before, but dammit, I'm gonna give this a shot.

Marking this for later.

Nick Punto and Jamey Carrol will be my first two draft picks.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
I would expect better than a 5x5 from a bunch of LGTers.  Like, whatever categories make Cliff Lee valuable.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
Guys,
I was in first place in the H2H AL-only league until the last week last year (if I remember correctly), so I definitely would want to play again.

I had never played an AL-only league before but I thoroughly enjoyed it - in my eyes it takes a lot more skill than an all MLB league.  I'd be down for either though - let me know what ya'll do.

I'm not superstitious, I'm just a little stitious.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
I'd be willing to start/commish a H2H LGT league.  I'd be up for customizing it with some interesting stat categories and making larger roster sizes.  Interest?

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
I'd be in for that, H2H and multiple stat categories is my style.

DaytonDogg, I renewed the H2H league from last year.  So we've got one started already (and with 6 people joined).  Do we need to have two H2H leagues going?

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
you may be right, although mine is a little funkier- with the added rosters spots and categories.

Anyway, I'll urge people to join yours first.  IF there isn't enough interest within the next few days, I'll just delete the league or maybe open it up to the public.

Re: LGT Fantasy Baseball
Baseball should be measured as a grind, not who happens to win each particular week.

I wouldn't want to have to worry about which SPs are starting twice in a week, etc.

Roto is the way to go.

I've renewed the H2H league from last year.  I've sent invitations out automatically to last years participants and given them a 15 min lead.  Now I'm opening things up to the people in general.

At this point the 5X5 Roto is at 9 players.  I'd be willing to start up a second Roto league if there's enough interest.  Let me know.

Obviously, draft times are negotiable.  I think we should take those discussions to the threads in the league instead of clogging them here.
