The Rays confirmed that Brian Anderson again tore the UCL in his elbow, ending his career.
He'd have to undergo Tommy John surgery for a third time if he wanted to pitch again, and as poorly as the first two took, there's just no good reason for him to try it again when he wouldn't have a chance of making it back before his 37th birthday. Anderson finishes his career 82-83 with a 4.74 ERA.
It's too bad for Anderson, he seems like he's quite a good guy. Never a dominant pitcher, but a real gamer. I liked him on STO, and I'm sure that he'll have his old spot waiting for him.
