Fernando Rodney will reportedly start the season on the DL!

Hello everyone,

I just heard on ESPNews that Detroit RHP Fernando Rodney will start the season on the DL with tendinitis in his throwing shoulder (I think it was tendinitis, but it certainly had to do with his shoulder.)

Therefore, this means that both Rodney and Zumaya will be out again for the Tigers for likely a significant period (especially in Zumaya's case.)

P.S. MinorLeagueBall.com has just switched to the new SBNation format.  Plus, I get to keep my "indiansfan" screen name - it seems the reason it was being held before was because they were waiting for me to claim the name at MinorLeagueBall/SBNation (or so it seems.)

In any case, I'll still be known as "indiansfan."  I still appreciate the suggestions for a new screen name though - thanks!  :-)

Yes.

No one should be surprised by this. That bullpen is a timebomb waiting to explode.

Re: reportedly start the season on the DL!
You only need to look at the 2006 Indians for how a bad bullpen can demoralize a strong hitting team.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly
He has been hurt for a while, no? I seem to remember this issue arising in the offseason and us making fun of their pen.

Re: Fernando Rodney
i'm predicting one of their big boppers gets hurt early on and they go out and sign Bonds.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly start the seas
For all the hype, Dombrowski ignored, and even willfully neglected, his biggest needs. Why is Chad Durbin getting ready to make another team? They couldn't of floated him on that payroll?

You can't win with, like, 3 real pitcher between bullpen and rotation combined.

Wow, are you really considering a new screen name
this would send ripples throughout the entire blog community!

Hello indiansfan,

I think you should consider the consequences very carefully before taking a step such as changing your screen name, because this could cause mass confusion to an entire community of baseball fanatics, literally sending ripples throughout the entire blog community, and your BABIP (Baseball Afficionados Blog Interactivity Performance)could take a hit, leading to deflated interaction not only numerically but also in poignancy because of a downward trend in your name recognition quotient, and so should really be considered carefully for all of the reasons mentioned above, the sum total of which would very likely lead to shrinking magnitude of nice days, whether this pertain to our homeland tribe forums or the more general environment of the minor league ball featuring john sickels and his wife.

Just my two cents :)

yes . . . and there was nothing uncomplimentary intended. indiansfan should know that if he doesn't. we have engaged in discussions here and elsewhere. always polite and unassuming.

No offense was taken - I do know! :-)
Hello DocNo,

I know that you were not being uncomplimentary (pardon the double negative.  :-)  No problem - I took no offense.

As for the screen name, I thought originally that I would have to change it because it seemed that "some other user" had registered it for the new SBNation blog system when I tried to register it around a month ago.  However, after attempting to register for the new system yesterday at MinorLeagueBall.com, it also allowed me to register it at all the SBNation sites, including LGT, (for some reason, it didn't before - don't know why,) I realized that the system was holding "indiansfan" for me, so changing my screen name is no longer necessary.

However, I received some good and innovative new options in a thread several weeks back and wanted to let people know I appreciated their ingenuity.  :-)  I also wanted to let them know that "indiansfan" on the "new" sites would actually be me, not someone else.

In case I don't have a chance to post again between now and Easter, I hope everyone who celebrates it has a safe and happy one!  :-)

May the Tribe be great in 2008! :-)

Re: Wow, are you really considering a new screen n
I deleted another reply, and several replies to that reply, since its author apologized and presumably preferred it all to be deleted.

In fairness to that author, however, we can acknowledge candidly that his subject is a polarizing one, even if most people never say so.  I appreciate a nice guy as much as anyone, but being nice shouldn't make someone above legitimate criticism -- it just feels like it should.  It is possible to contribute too much while contributing too little.

In addition to Ryan and me, those who post a lot of material publicly walk a fine line and flirt with becoming "public figures" in a media sense -- hence last October, we were treated to the surreality of the Philly Inquirer worrying publicly about gradyforpresident's drinking, while Esquire.com pondered mauichuck's wisdom.

If you write here, you might be quoted.  If you write a lot and establish a personality, eventually someone might write about you as a recognizable character.  And if you write a lot with a relentless, consistently idiosyncratic style, you're fair game for parody like any other public figure.  That's the reality.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly
This has me thinking, what if our Raffies were subtracted?  Gone, just like that.

This hurts, and it comes as little surprise to me.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly
If you subtract from Raffy P you get a negative number. If CC then fell into the hole where Raffy P was, you get a pitcher of average weight.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly
Hah.  Speaking of, Stein's on the case one diary down.

All I know is that a restaurant I used to work in cooked food (like Ribs and buttery mashed potatoes and other junk) for the Tribe on occasion.  I envisioned CC just pigging out on the bundles I helped make, and it gave me great pleasure.

I don't know a thing about weight loss, but it's gotta be hard or impossible for a player to lose weight in season without the help of greenies or some diet supplement.  The foodstuff that finds their way to a clubhouse buffet table have a generic appeal, meaning they're rather less than nutritious.

Re: Fernando Rodney will reportedly
And if you take the square root of that negative number, you get an imaginary pitcher - something that's probably quite useful in fantasy baseball.

Re: That was a very good imitation
Let me add my 2 cents.

Whenever I need to know how some 18 y.o. Dominican SS is doing down in the Nova Scotia Independent League I can always count on indiansfan for a complete up-date.  To my mind he's a valuable contributor and a gentle soul.

Keep up the good work indiansfan and Illegitimi non carborundum.
