Smoke'em Brian Slocum on the Rise
Just a nicely written re-cap of Brian Slocum's start over the weekend, and a blurb about him pitching well in a winter league. I'd forgotten that his injury last year was so devastating -- not even 30 IP. Slocum's track record really isn't all that bad. I have to wonder if he isn't the de facto sixth starter at the moment, with Miller still stretching his arm out, and Sowers and Laffey not tuned up yet. Also! Jeremy Sowers has a beard!

I think SEBS and maybe even Shawnee Smith (though he would have to be added to the 40-man) are entering the conversation as #6 starter in light of the rehab and slow starts that you reference to the pitchers thought to be ahead of them in the pecking order.

Two fun questions to think about:
1) When will we actually need a 6th starter? Will it still be these guys by then?
2) On how many teams would they already be in the rotation?

He looks a lot like Dave Burba in that picture.
Proud supporter of the Cleveland.

The rotation is fully in alternate universe territory - C.C. and Lee switching spots, Sowers with a beard.
