The Dolans finally get a bit a respect
Sheldon Ocker's article this morning is a nice review about the Indians' (good) financial situation and what it means for the club. A nice read.
One thing that caught my eye... Ocker thinks that it is still possible that the Tribe has the resources to resign CC--although its a long shot.
Another issue... does anyone here think it is time to give Garko an extension? I'm not a true Garko believer yet. (I have no empirical reason for this... my irrational gut instinct doesn't have faith in his long-term value.)
Its about time that someone in the media actually analyze what the Dolans' have done--and what they can reasonably do--for the team. Nothing is more inane the hearing some hack rant about how cheap our owner is.

More than anything, the Dolans deserve props for not being micro-managers and allow their GM to execute his plans. There are always a few owners (McLane, Hicks) who think they know better and go over their GM’s head. Having a GM and owner on the same page both and who trust each other has been the key.
p.s: Please don’t sign Garko long term. With Aubrey, Whitney and Brown possibly knocking on the door pretty soon (1-2 years), Garko might turn into a nice trade chip.
NBR (No Borowski Run): Refers to that run which puts the Indians up by 4 over an opponent, thereby drastically reducing the chances of Joe Borowski pitching in a game.
Garko likely will get a modest 3-4 year deal after this season, if it’s a good season. But any deal they give Garko is very likely to make him more tradeable, as is the case with most of our lockup deals.
Except for you-know-who, the Larry Hughes of the Indians.

I did say “most.”
Cliff Lee’s contract was still tradeable in March. And now, it’s really tradeable.
Anyway, if you can trade Mike Hampton’s contract, anything is possible.
