Grady! Still just a precaution? Please God.

You have no idea the physical toll that three vasectomies have on a person

by jakesinger777 on Apr 28, 2008 6:34 PM EDT   0 recs

If it weren’t a precaution, he’d be on the DL by now.

by Jay on Apr 28, 2008 6:59 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

How does the retroactive DL work? I get it in general, but are there any specific rules or situations that make it unavailable? Seems like if he isn’t feeling 100% better in a couple days they might put him on.

by pdxtribefan on Apr 28, 2008 7:08 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

i think a player can be DL’d retroactive to the last game he played in, as long as it is not more than 7 days in the past

by mpstable on Apr 28, 2008 7:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I bet that our game yesterday would total over 9 runs on that centsports site. Now I’m steering clear of any and all bets on the tribe.

basketball bets are just easier and less painful to watch.

by gahnki on Apr 28, 2008 6:42 PM EDT   0 recs

100% agreed.

I have a rule that I’ve never lost on: Nuggets, Lakers, Suns, Warriors (to a lesser extent the Sonics and Grizzlies). If any combination of those teams are playing, I take the over, no matter what it’s set at.

You could do a study on that.

by Jay on Apr 28, 2008 7:04 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I could, and lately I’ve been thinking about writing my senior thesis on it (well, the broader subject)..we’ll see what happens

I think there are some things that we can exploit on that site. They seem to update lines manually so there is some downtime between injuries, player lineups, etc. I’m going to start comparing their lines to other Vegas sites to see what I can find.

by gahnki on Apr 28, 2008 7:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

keep me posted..i’d be happy to do some work on that as well

The MGM mirage seems to give out less favorable odds on + moneylines, but on the – moneylines, at least today, there is a large difference.

On the Lakers/Nuggets moneylines:

-110 for MGM
-190 for CentSports

So picking the Lakers on a moneyline would be a bad bet.

I’m sure there’s more that we can get into, but I’ve noticed some significant differences from other sites over the past few days.

how sad is it that not even a grady injury can get blake in the OF and marte at third?

The Disabled List just called ... it was trying to unload Joe Borowski. I offered a bagel but balked at giving up a ham sandwich. It wanted to keep Westbrook.

by westbrook on Apr 28, 2008 7:01 PM EDT   0 recs

In an odd way, I take it as a sign that they want to keep Marte.

If they’re going to keep Michaels or trade him, they’d better get him some AB when they can.

But in Marte’s case, they’re keeping him either way, so it doesn’t matter. He’ll get the AB when it’s necessary and apparently not a minute sooner.

by Jay on Apr 28, 2008 7:04 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Jay, I’ve been jostling with a theory. Casey Blake’s pattern (to me, anyway) seems to be peak early and decline pretty steadily as the season goes on. Could the Indians just be trying to squeeze a few more RC out of Casey during the time of year when he’s traditionally at his best?

by fleerdon on Apr 28, 2008 7:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

you really think wedge realizes that blake has flaws?

In the top of the 10th Adam Jones made the third out at third base on an infield single by the batter. Then, in the bottom, Quentin tried to steal home for the win but was caught. Nothing too crazy, just action.

Was it a straight steal of home, or was he picked off third? I want to know if Carlos Quentin is a moron, or Ozzie Guillen.

Nevermind, just saw the highlight … failed suicide squeeze. Ozzie’s the idiot.

There was a children’s book called Mumble Bear, that basically was about a bear who allowed himself to be taken advantage of all the time, slowly building up frustration and rage. Yada, yada, yada, Hafner needs to quit being taken advantage of.

Miller has 4Ks in in 4 innings for Buffalo.

NBR (No Borowski Run): Refers to that run which puts the Indians up by 4 over an opponent, thereby drastically reducing the chances of Joe Borowski pitching in a game.
