I'll ask again, since when is LGT full of so many negative voices?
Chuck I was not talking about you or any of the other regulars because your banter is smart, and it is not straight up trash talk. I cannot stand the other trash.

Voices? Who you calling out?
If it’s who I think it is, a change in tone is already apparent.

Not just one person who did it today, but a lot of “new” people who do it regularly. Even when we are winning/playing well.

I haven’t been able to post much recently. I wanted to tell everyone about the New Jersey rats that sat behind me at the Jake the other night against the Yankees. They were being unbelievably vulgar. I had to tell them to shut the fuck up, in those exact words. We had a nice shouting match on our hands. The cooler heads around us separated us. It very nearly took an ugly, ugly turn.

See, when I asked one of the other posters if they were out on bail after confronting some Yankee fans he got all defensive – right Gradysmanlady? – but that’s real world, dude.

It was a restrained response from me because I was with my Mom and Pa. If I had been with my boyz, as you say, all hell would have broken loose.

After reading Jay’s response in the last thread, I completely understand the cycles thing, but does anyone in here not get pissed off by this? I am sick of hearing about how poorly Pronk is doing, how Marte would have made that play, and how bad Michaels is, etc.

I have a mantra: “LGT will not make me bitter. LGT will not make me bitter.” It’s working to some degree.

We all have different tolerance for bitching. In person, I’ll put up with it for about 2.5 seconds and then I’ve had enough. Here, it feels completely under my control, which makes it easy to bear.

There is no ignore option on here otherwise everyone who time machined me and complained too much would be on that list.

I still haven’t grasped what being “time machined” means, at least the way you’re using it.

When someone on here sees the game in real time and posts what happens before us who are watching online can see.

You would want to put people on ignore for that? I don’t like constant negativity, but how is someone else supposed to know what you can or can’t see?

I would ignore it because most “time machiners” post a play by play rather than just the big moments in the game.

I’m glad you spoke up, and we deliberately try to make this a place that isn’t overrun with trash-talk.
That said, when the team struggles, it’s going to show on the site, and especially in the game threads. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that we don’t have that much discussion outside the Game Threads, and there usually is a lot more. I hope the new platform isn’t subtly less encouraging of those discussions in some way.
Anyway, we’ll keep an eye on this … but this is also a joyous place to be when the team is doing at all well.

Interesting theory about the lack of comments in general. I think the negativity just stands out more during stretches of play like this, whereas the negativity gets drowned out and ignored during good times. There’s just been very little good times for about 25 innings straight, and about 26 games, roughly.

I vividly remember this place during last year’s July/August swoon, it was far worse than it is now.

I’m curious to see what the game threads were like back in July last year, when we were scoring at roughly the same non-pace.
Not that I’m defending negativity. Hell, I profess my love for Hafner every at bat.

Lester is sort-of-outpitching him tonight.
The Disabled List just called ... it was trying to unload Joe Borowski. I offered a bagel but balked at giving up a ham sandwich. It wanted to keep Westbrook.

103 pitches in 6.2 for Carmona. For all the wildness, that’s not awful. The double plays helped

Fausto was better than his line tonight. Plagued by lousy defense.
by maledicta on Apr 29, 2008 8:53 PM EDT 0 recs
Fausto is what he is. Totally dominant, but young and still learning how to pitch. Reminds me of Felix Hernandez, but with better results thus far.

OKA on the bright side maybe GARKO will come roaring off the bench and drive in the winning run or better maybe Marte will hit a walk off… then all will be better

Alright let’s get some positive vibes in hurr….I agree with Patty boy, last couple game threads have been negative, and more importantly, not amusing at all.
Stand up and be laughed at. Where the frig has everyone been?

by xrickx on Apr 29, 2008 8:58 PM EDT 0 recs
silva doesnt walk anybody. i think a few years ago he set a record for fewest walks per 9 innings. this year he is under 2 bb per 9

It becomes less demoralizing when one resists the temptation to predict positive things, as I do every time Pronk steps to the plate.
