Chuck: Un-ironic Veteran Leadership
I'd post an Intentional Over-reactions Thread -- mountains and mountains of change -- but I just don't have the heart. Like bad corporate pop music, this offensive slump isn't upsetting to me so much as it's dull and demoralizing. So I'm sharing my favorite-ever post of Chuck's with you. This is where I go for baseball nourishment. This is why I stick around. Thanks, Chuck.

A true gem, no doubt.

Clearly there are a lot of frustrating things going on right now with this team. What I try to take out of the month of April is the starting pitching. As we all know C.C. is coming back to form, Fausto grittly pulling himself along walks and all, and let’s not forget how well the Fierce Kitty is doing. Plus, the rest of our starters are pretty serviceable.
It’s a long season, only 17% of the way through. I’m confident the bats and the bullpen will come around. Then maybe, just maybe this season will come together.
No sense in getting frustrated, it is going to be a long competitive season and I’m just going to take the good with the bad (which is hopefully out of the Tribe’s system).
Here’s to hopefully seeing some of this later this season.

I will admit I’m more than a little ferklemt. I never thought I’d live long enough to make it to “vereran leader”.
And I meant every word of that. We’ll be fine, just as long as they’re playing professional baseball in Cleveland I’m a happy man. Happier when they win of course, but I’m even grateful when the Tribe isn’t winning. Cuz, you know those guys, and you guys, are my boyz.

I think we need some pies to the face to get the offense on track.

Before or after the batters come to the plate? (sorry, couldn’t resist). Actually, the team doesn’t seem to be having much fun, so your suggestion isn’t totally out there at all.

If you’re winning and not having fun then something is wrong, and if you’re having fun but not winning then something is wrong.

I’ll add that Chuck’s post of last year is right. I lived for a decade in a city without major league baseball, and there’s nothing more boring than not having a team you care about to cheer for (or yell at). And, it IS better to be frustrated by a team that’s good but not playing its best than to watch consistently hopeless baseball (consider the Pirates fans’ situation!!).

Absolutely perfect. It’s always good to have Chuck around to put things in perspective.
