Ya think this Stephen Wright guy pitches real, real slow and speaks in a monotone?

Sometimes I go to a waiting room and just wait. Nurse comes out, says, 'Are you here to see the doctor?' I say, 'No, just waiting.' She says, 'Do you WANT to see the doctor?' I say, 'I don't know. What kind of doctor is he?' 'Well, he's a foot doctor.' [beat] 'Sure, I'd like to see a man that tall.'

I once put instant coffee in a microwave oven and traveled back in time.

I saw a subliminal advertising executive the other day ...
... but just for a second.
The other day, I accidentally put my car key into the front door of my house.... and it started. So, I got in and started driving around. Then I parked in the middle of a highway and got out and told everybody to get the hell off my driveway.
I went to a restaurant that said it served breakfast anytime, so I ordered French toast during the renaissance.
You know that feeling you get when you're balancing on the back two legs of a chair and you're about to fall over, but then you catch yourself at the last second....
... I feel that way all the time.

This scared me for a sec. I thought a "power outage" meant he was slumping.

Weglarz doesn't slump, he just stands tall and walks hard.

I also liked it but I understand it was a critical and financial failure. I wonder why? Is there a Ferrell/Apatow/Rogen fatigue setting in?

I still can't get enough of Sam Kinnison or Richard Jenny. Course they're both dead.

Are we?
NICK WEGLARZ, age 19, A: .395 OBP, .495 SLG, 23 HR, 15.4% BB, 1.57 K:BB
JAY BRUCE, age 19, A: .355 OBP, .516 SLG, 16 HR, 9.4% BB, 2.4 K:BB
PRINCE FIELDER, age 19, A: .398 OBP, .526 SLG, 27 HR, 12.4% BB, 1.13 K:BB
Clearly I can't say he's of that caliber with a straight face ... yet. Fielder OPS'd nearly .900 in AA his whole age 20 season, and Bruce bashed his way into AAA, from which he would already have graduated if Cincy weren't holding him down for a few more months. It's a big year for Nick, is all I'm saying. Also, 15.4 PERCENT!!!!???!?!?!?

Let's do the math here. 15.4% BB but his K rate (from the 1.57 K:BB ratio) must be what? 24%? Damn near one strike out per four at bats. Holy batshit Batman! Who is this guy? Russelle Branyan?

Actually, Branyan's was around 35%. And Sizemore's is around 25%

Yeah....25% isn't that high for a power hitter. Granted, Weglarz hasn't actually put up very good power numbers to this point...

For a 19-year-old? His power numbers are great. Not just fine, great.

For some reason I had it in my head that Weglarz ISO was only ~125-150 last season. I was wrong...it was healthily about 200, comparable to both Bruce and Fielder at that age. Let the prospect dreams grow!

Those two were just off the top of my head, and just for fun, really. There was some trial and error involved -- Adam Jones, for example, might have been decent, had he not split his age 19 season between A+ and AA (!). Are these actually reasonable comps, ISO aside? Is there any position player in the system I should be more excited about, if I think defense is for weenies?
I'll tell you who looks eerily similar to me, though: Adam Dunn ... who, by the way, has the greatest B-Ref sponsorship ever: "May Kent shine His light and allow you to be a Cub next season. Please ignore everything Dusty Baker suggests."

All I know is
[guy hits 24 home runs in about 533 PA] + Lake County suppresses HR a bit + 19-year-olds haven't gotten their real home run power yet anyway
Kid really could be a monster.

Well, if I've learned anything from your Prospects that Matter series its that numbers should always be viewed out of context. Just doing my part to help.
