It's Van Everyday!
The Cleveland Indians, your one-stop shop for extra outfielders. Curious to see how he does with this cup o' joe.

Saw him play earlier this year when the PawSox came to Indy. It was the single worst baseball game I have ever seen in person in my entire life, but, well, that’s what I get rooting for a Pirates minor league team, I suppose.
Van Every didn’t look great, but he didn’t look horrible either. Nice to see him get the call; even if it is with the Red Sox.

You have to give Van Every credit, even though he had to know he had know chance of making the bigs with Cleveland he gave it a pretty good effort. A .916 OPS between Akron and Buffalo while cutting down his strikeout rate (which had been terrible) and improving his walk-rate. Granted he was 27, but he hadn’t stopped trying.

He was the one rule 5 I wish didn’t get away. But there was no room for him and he was too old.
I think he is going to be a major leaguer, but I just can’t imagine he will be able to break into that Red Sox OF.
Why is he getting play time? Do they have an injury in the OF?

Drew is a walking injury (this time with some wrist troubles) and Coco had a tummyache, hence the start.

If you liked Van Every and regret losing him (although I think we lost him as a minor-league free agent), you should be a fan of this guy

I bumped into his profile page last night and thought … why did we promote Tyner again?

I think Cooper has a pretty good defensive rep, but Van Every’s defense is much more highly regarded.

Van Every was not a Rule 5, he was a six-year minor league free agent. (Any player with six full seasons as a professional, and who isn’t on a 40-man roster, becomes a free agent.)
I think you actually knew this, but I just wanted to make sure everyone understood, this guy is not coming back.
