First rec of the night.

Exam=over. Time for a big night on LGT without having to simultaneously read about crazies.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 6:28 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Also!

ILC is in the Bison lineup again tonight, though at DH. He only played in one of the games of the DH yesterday. Looks like they are taking it slow with his elbow.

by dgcambridge on May 16, 2008 6:18 PM EDT   0 recs

relative to BLC, does ILC have a paprika flavoring?

by APV on May 16, 2008 6:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I know when I was in Sweden I purchased so gum that was flavored “Salty Licorice”.

Not good.

by dgcambridge on May 16, 2008 6:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I have to miss tonight’s game – any idea how long after the end of the game that it gets archived by mlb.TV?

You have no idea the physical toll that three vasectomies have on a person

by jakesinger777 on May 16, 2008 6:29 PM EDT   0 recs

No Marte. Wedge is an idiot.

First!

by oxforddave on May 16, 2008 6:40 PM EDT   0 recs

Are there any good resources online to find minor league batter-vs-pitcher numbers?

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 6:43 PM EDT   0 recs

Yay for first game thread in forever!

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 6:47 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah feels like I haven’t been in an entire game thread for years.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 6:56 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Wedge – no designated closer

by palcal on May 16, 2008 6:55 PM EDT   0 recs

any of 4 pitchers could pitch 7th, 8th, and 9th

by palcal on May 16, 2008 6:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Hey, Closer by Committee! Cool!

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 6:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

All we need is for JoeBo’s arm to fall off and this could be the beginning of something legendary.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 6:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Ryan, does this mean you are full on partaking in the game thread tonight?

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yep.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 7:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Wedge – possible that JoBo and Westbrook could be back next week (that is the optimistic version)

by palcal on May 16, 2008 6:56 PM EDT   0 recs

Every time we face the Reds in Cincinnati, I for some reason flashback to Cliff Lee hanging fastballs and getting clobbered a few years back.

And I now take solace that Cliff is now awesome.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:05 PM EDT   0 recs

I remember the Wickman implosion a couple years ago – I think Adam Dunn hit a grand slam off him.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 7:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Ah poop, I remember that one too.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:07 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Here it is:

5 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 0 LOB. Indians 8, Reds 9.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 7:09 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

how about gutz’ catch last year running into the chain-link fence or whatever they have out there in right field

bingo. that’s what i thought of.

Give Marte a Chance.

by westbrook on May 16, 2008 7:53 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I don’t like the way this Cueto kid wears his hat. STRAIGHTEN IT OUT

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:06 PM EDT   0 recs

that idiot Cueto spells his name wrong. he puts the H after the O.

by Brick. on May 16, 2008 7:06 PM EDT   0 recs

Stupid Cuetoh.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:08 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah we had to figure Manny Marte wasn’t getting in there tonight, not too upset to be honest.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:09 PM EDT   0 recs

I’m calling a sowers homerun. He’s a cerebral hiiter.

by Brick. on May 16, 2008 7:10 PM EDT   0 recs

He’s going to cerebrally will the ball out.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:12 PM EDT to parent up   1 recs

I never understood how the Brain became more powerful than Master Shredder

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:13 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He did?

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:13 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

The Brain in the cartoon was “the brains” behind every operation

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:14 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I swear I watched that show. Apparently as closely as I can following games on the radio.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:15 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I always felt that James Earl Jones was a poor choice for playing Shredder. Wait, what?

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:14 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

So, screw it: I’m making soup.

by fleerdon on May 16, 2008 7:10 PM EDT   0 recs

Good plan.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Soup sounds like a good idea. On the other hand, going to the grocery store seems difficult.

Two words of advice: Costco. Ramen.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 7:16 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I don’t like ramen enough to eat it now that I can afford other things.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't mean what you think it means.

by AngG on May 16, 2008 7:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I know someone who eats raw ramen.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:54 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I know a guy like that too. I’ve tried it. It’s all right, but not something I’d want to do on the regular.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't mean what you think it means.

by AngG on May 16, 2008 7:54 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

So apparently I still haven’t learned to read game threads and listen to the game. Totally missed Sizemore’s flyout.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:13 PM EDT   0 recs

Thanks for comin out Jhonny.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:13 PM EDT   0 recs

peralta was screwed there when they called low and away off the plate for strike two

by Brick. on May 16, 2008 7:13 PM EDT   0 recs

Why did I think Hairston Jr. was an outfielder?

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:15 PM EDT   0 recs

Matthews Jr.?

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:16 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Must be. My dad still thinks I’m making them up.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Looch gets one day off, and it feels like we haven’t seen him in ages. I think this means I like him.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:15 PM EDT   0 recs

you’ll know for sure when you pull his hair on the playground.

by Brick. on May 16, 2008 7:16 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Dip his ponytail in the inkwell?

I think Sower’s legs are twice as long as the rest of his body

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:17 PM EDT   0 recs

I repeat: He has cute little knees.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't mean what you think it means.

by AngG on May 16, 2008 7:18 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Reds on their third SS? Ouch. For us. that would be…Peralta to Cabrera to…Carrol?

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:19 PM EDT   0 recs

Yet somehow, Hairston, through 45 ABs, thinks he’s Cal Ripken.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

That was a strike

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:20 PM EDT   0 recs

Crap zone so far.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

and then he walks on strike 3

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:21 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

On paper, this should be a good pitching weekend. The Reds have their big three going.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:21 PM EDT   0 recs

Fan of Sowers so far…

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:21 PM EDT   0 recs

Through him four strikes.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Threw, rather. Damn.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Um oops.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:22 PM EDT   0 recs

I blame Wedge

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:22 PM EDT   0 recs

Ugh.

Disclaimer: this post doesn't mean what you think it means.

by AngG on May 16, 2008 7:22 PM EDT   0 recs

Poopy pants.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

I hope you guys don’t have to listen to the Reds announcers like I do.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

Nope. But Hammy did say the obvious.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Reds announcers called Phillips’ acquisition “one of the greatest trades of all times.”

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Jeff Stevens will make them eat their words.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh for God’s sake. I just got time machined by the Reds SBN page and didn’t even know it. D:

Disclaimer: this post doesn't mean what you think it means.

by AngG on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

Have we not figured this out after three years? Can we please stop letting Phillips beat us?

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:23 PM EDT   0 recs

Geez, Brandon Phillips should team up with Joba to teach masterclasses on over-celebrating minor achievements.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 7:24 PM EDT   0 recs

What’d he do? I’ve got a radio on. Before I hear, I will say it’s pretty cool to hit a 2-run HR in the first inning against your IL rival.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Flipped his bat and looked at the dugout

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:25 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Which pretty much illustrates why he’s no longer with us.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 7:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

We could use a little swagger like that, in my opinion. I know Wedge would prefer Casey Blake style, but I’ll take some attitude

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

That is not attitude, that is douchebaggery.

Tribe fan from far, far away

by LGT Patrick on May 16, 2008 7:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

The bigger douchebaggery was the umpiring gifting those “non-strike” calls to Griffey just because he’s “Griffey” and Sowers is on the mound. Then, Votto steps up, and the same pitch that was twice a ball is called a strike.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:32 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Well, I hate that in any situation.

by Voltaire on May 16, 2008 7:26 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

And strolled the bases and clapped his hands repeatedly…it sounds silly to type it all, but visually it looked like he was celebrating having won a World Series game.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 7:27 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It was pretty over-the-top. He turned, flipped the bat, clapped his hands running the bases, the whole nine yards.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 7:31 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Since you are a lot classier than I, do you think it’s time to retaliate with this chump?

by Roger Dorn on May 16, 2008 7:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I would.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 7:45 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I do. In retaliation, the Indians pitchers should get him out.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:46 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He’s always had a little flair. I’m not sure skipping and throwing your bat 20 feet is necessary, but that’s his call.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 7:25 PM EDT to parent up
