Also!
ILC is in the Bison lineup again tonight, though at DH. He only played in one of the games of the DH yesterday. Looks like they are taking it slow with his elbow.

Every time we face the Reds in Cincinnati, I for some reason flashback to Cliff Lee hanging fastballs and getting clobbered a few years back.

The bigger douchebaggery was the umpiring gifting those “non-strike” calls to Griffey just because he’s “Griffey” and Sowers is on the mound. Then, Votto steps up, and the same pitch that was twice a ball is called a strike.

Pure baseball is a game in which all batters are capable of performing their function at the plate. When pitchers stopped taking legit batting practice and really trying to be passable hitters, the purity was destroyed. It’s a 7 man lineup. Pitch around the 8th guy to get to the pitcher, who falls over and dies with bat on shoulder.

When you’re paying him $10M to pitch, I understand not wanting him to get hurt at the plate. Which is why I support the DH. It’s the most sensible solution to not having to watch a 7 man lineup. Watching a pitcher hit makes me feel as cheap as watching the 2 minute foul extravaganza at the end of a basketball game or taking a knee in a football game (neither of which has to do with a failure to perform, but instead is just an unfortunate product of having a clock). It’s just not the way the game is supposed to be played.

They are pretty bad after only two innings. But you should hear the Diamondbacks announcers, one of which is Mark Grace. No sense of professionalism for being on TV, total ass-kissers to the players rather than being objective, and just plain annoying. Honestly, he doesn’t and shouldn’t give a shit. It’s a non-issue and should be. If Brandon Phillips was still in a Cleveland uniform, there’s a chance he wouldn’t be in a major league uniform. (WHAT?!) My point is that there’s no guarantee that Phillips would have done this had he been retained.
But his treatment of Andy Marte suggests he hasn’t learned his lesson, and that he truly has not again thought of the lesson learned from the Phillips situation.

I’m equally concerned with all games. When a team wins 94 games and makes it to the playoffs, and the runner-up stays home because they only won 92 games, there is no re-count to determine against whom the wins were secured. A win is a win. April 1st or September 31st. Based on that, I do value Wedge’s “We are concerned with the urgency of each game, but we won’t lose sight of the whole season” statements.

I was reading Lastoria’s blog, and he was suggesting through his sources that perhaps Michael Aubrey will get called up tonight to take Sowers’ spot. It’ll give the Indians another bat on the bench while dabbling in the NL, and give the Indians a left-handed bat to play in place of Garko.
Sure enough, Aubrey is not in the Bisons’ lineup tonight.
