Come on Dellucci

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 9:00 PM EDT reply actions

Well of course they’ll pinch-hit with Marte here.

by Jay on May 16, 2008 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Pray for the walk to Dellucci.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions

How huge would Looch be with a knock here?

It's the Arizona talking, really.

by RD74 on May 16, 2008 9:01 PM EDT reply actions

fist pump huge.

Give Marte a Chance.

by westbrook on May 16, 2008 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t like this matchup with Dellucci, but there’s no place really to go. Affeldt can’t throw strikes. Could find a walk.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:02 PM EDT reply actions

I thought Winslow was holding out.

by Ryan on May 16, 2008 9:02 PM EDT reply actions

Anyone else hear “Davida Lucci”? Um, just me, then?

MAKE HIM THROW A DAMN STRIKE.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

boooooo

Give Marte a Chance.

by westbrook on May 16, 2008 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

To watch Phillips play baseball is to hate him.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

seriously. when i saw him start that no-look flip nonsense i wanted the baseball gods to intervene and send it into left field

by mpstable on May 16, 2008 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

who comes out, Delucci or Gutierrez/

by palcal on May 16, 2008 9:05 PM EDT reply actions

gotta be looch.

Give Marte a Chance.

by westbrook on May 16, 2008 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Dellucci should for the bullshit at-bat. Affeldt walks 4.5 per nine innings. Ugh. And he’s swinging at a 1-0 ball…

But rather, make it Dellucci so Gutierrez can play legit defense in the OF. Plus, it leaves the pitcher’s spot hitting last.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Whoever is driving Gameday today has had a few too many…

by pandroid on May 16, 2008 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

you PH marte in julio’s spot. he strikes out as well, and you have gutz in that situation or looch and bonus, wedge doesn’t have to actually play marte any more the rest of the game. see if marte was in the doghouse, he would have done that.

by Brick. on May 16, 2008 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

Who’s left? Carroll, Marte, and Shoppach.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:09 PM EDT reply actions

Kinda sleepy in here. I guess a bunch of the folks from the old thread missed that turn in Albuquerque and ended up in Pismo Beach instead.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 9:11 PM EDT reply actions

nah, it’s the 7th inning stretch. people at have to get up from their keyboards and move around just as much as fans at the park do

Ryan Freel is a twirp.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

hey mario, you’ve been reading up on mental illness, right? what’s your take on the guy at the plate?

by mpstable on May 16, 2008 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

I’d think he’d benefit from some of Chuck’s 1950s-style thorazine.

by supermarioelia on May 16, 2008 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Indians will have to rough up David Weathers.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:14 PM EDT reply actions

That’s kind of amazing.

by fleerdon on May 16, 2008 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Why is it that game day never shows anyone throwing harder than 85 mph?

It's the Arizona talking, really.

It’s occasionally nice being a girl.

Beau Mills with a HR and 2B tonight.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

poor vic. that reminds me of that (apocryphal?) story about pierzynski in SF

by mpstable on May 16, 2008 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

gotta give us more than that?

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

the story goes that AJ took a foul tip off the jewels and was down on the ground. the trainer came out and said “how’s it feel”
pierzynski supposedly kicked the trainer between the legs and said “like this”
if it’s not true, it should be

Nope, just a sudden inspiration; but I have been holding onto that “Fist of Steel: Reds Hunter” for weeks, so it all evens out.

You’ve been waiting for that, haven’t you?

Interleague play sucks. You get punished for having non-fruitful rallies, since you get that much closer to the pitcher’s spot again.

Chad Curtis. Ew.

by fleerdon on May 16, 2008 9:26 PM EDT reply actions

The Cliff Lee plan? Then next year, he starts off with a 70 game hit streak?

Garko can’t stop fishing.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:28 PM EDT reply actions

Reds announcers have it right, “Garko has made no adjustment at all this game.”

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

No, but Vic surely has.

Oh, you mean “adjustment to his swing,” don’t you. Never mind.

by Fiddlesticks on May 16, 2008 9:29 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

This Reds colour guy is actually pretty spot-on with his criticism of Garko here.

by RD74 on May 16, 2008 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

Have people forgotten … Garko hit two home runs and a double in the last three games?

by Jay on May 16, 2008 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Noted, but he just swung at a ball at his head, never mind he hit it to the track.

by xrickx on May 16, 2008 9:31 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not saying he’s “okay” with his hitting, but obviously a series like that buys him a little more time.

by Jay on May 16, 2008 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

As I said above, he looked terrible every other atbat during that series, and even during the atbat where he got a double. I know he still produced, three XBH are still awesome, but I’m thinking BIG PICTUREEEEEEEE.
