possible LGT spotting?
I was biking home from class today (go to school in northside Chicago) and I saw, parked on the side of a street, a crossover "mid-size" SUV with Tennessee plates, Rutgers alum stickers, and a "Cleveland Indians" plate holder. I thought to myself, "that's a pretty random collection of details. This person must be on LGT." So I left a dirty napkin on this person's wipers that said, "Go Indians, <3 marte, hodges, weglarz."

What’s funny, is that soccer mom, probably bought the car off someone else and just hasn’t had the time to rid it of the Rutgers/Tribe stuff.
(Not really though since the plates weren’t current)

Joey, not that I’m some kinda expert or nothin’, but this oughta be a FANSHOT. There’s a simple litmus test for whether or not a topic qualifies as a FANPOST: ask yourself, “would Mauichuck get all worked up over this?” If yes, FANPOST. If no, FANSHOT.

Please note: The above is not official policy, even if maybe it should be.

To extent that this is a serious conversation about the issue at all.. what is the standard? Aren’t FANSHOTS just links, pictures, and videos?

i think if we discuss if it should have been a fanshot, it probably should have been.

If that’s the metric than it’s not, and I’m good with it. If the metric is that half of the posts under the thread are about fan shots, then maybe it is.
just so these discussion can cease, I’d be fine with a standard we could point to and stop discussion there. don’t mean to make a big deal out of it, i just like to be precise.

Actually I got pretty acerbic with the fanshot about Cliff Lee and that definitely was a fanshot. Must be the Metamucil.

Okay, okay, I thought this should’ve been a fanshot, too – but I didn’t have a link? So I panicked. Bad excuse, I know, but I was confused.
I’m working out the kinks, I’ll get it straight. Jay’s guidelines sound right.

It seems like a FanPost to me, to be honest, just a short one.

Ok, I look like a doofus now.
Shout out what you drank Joe
I went to the Nationals game vs. the Pirates last night. It’s an Ok park. The circulation is illogical in comparison to Progressive Field, but more affordable seats bring you closer to the action. The triple deck of suites at the Jake/Prog is really unfortunate. There are some odd market failures at the Nationals ballpark: virtually all of the best seats in the house right behind homeplate are unsold. You see it elsewhere too; empty sections alternate with packed sections, self-organization by value. For some reason this behavior more apparent at the Nats ballpark than any other venue I’ve seen (and I’ve been to ~dozen of them). Seeing the Nats was an ugly but uplifting experience; uplifting in the sense that I’ve seen what a Bad Club looks and plays like, and no matter how bad the Indians have looked at moments in this season, we’re not the Nats. Zimmerman can pick it and Lastings obviously has a bright future, but the Tribe’s talents are on a completely different level.

If the Nats ‘behind the dish’ seat were unused you’d expect them to be occupied in places, in a scattered pattern. These were empty as a block. I assume they’re unsold. Too expensive, even for DC.

when that happens in the first year of a new stadium, the marketing and finance people made a major error in scaling the prices throughout the stadium. Once they finish their major season ticket promotions, they should be offering some good specials for those seats on a single game basis.
