Around SBN: Indians trade Casey Blake for two minor leaguers Bar-right-arrows

"I've had some shoulder issues"

I'm sure many of you saw this quote in today's PD. I was aware of Hafner's elbow concerns, but the shoulder ...?

This is classic, classic Hoynes. Absolutely disconnected from even the thought of a follow-up about this. It clearly does not occur to Hoynes that people might be interested.

Is this the answer to the myster of his decline? Is it part of the answer? Is it simply nothing, just a touch of discomfort? Is Wedge concerned? Is the medical staff concerned? Have they run tests? How long has he had “issues?”

I mean, just another log to throw on the fire of the joke that is PD sportswriting.

burying the lead?

taken out of context?

reference to an old injury/risk?

current discomfort?

interested parties would like to know.

Could just be a “save face” thing instead of dealing with the issue on why we are willingly benching our (former) premier slugger and franchise player.

This has mentioned before. Hafner missed a game because of it. Seems like a chronic thing.

Yes, it was mentioned in late-April. Hafner sat for a game in Minnesota because of it.

Here’s a link to the mention of shoulder problems in April.

Hafner’s having shoulder problems because every pitcher this season has been able to make him sport his ass there.
