I Choo-Choo-Choose You
HR for the Tribe's next OF bust.
And just when I'm getting drunk on the idea of Bauer for closer (irrationally, of course), he blows a save.
But at least Atom had another strong outing.

Hooray for something even remotely acceptable from an offensive player!

I wonder how much longer Mujica will be in AAA while Jensen rolls BP fastballs up there…

I really don’t understand the anger directed at Lewis. He’s not as dominant as he was last year, but he’s not exactly handing out runs 2006 bullpen style, either. He’s far the biggest problem the Tribe has.

Everyone’s lashing out because he defriended them on facebook. Obviously.

Mujica’s ERA is over 4 at AAA, his WHIP is 1.5. He has walked 10 guys in 26 innings. Those aren’t great numbers (not horrible, but not great). I’d say he’s about third or fourth in line for a call up (Bauer has been better despite a bad day yesterday; there’s still Mastny, and Elarton).

I vaguely recall mention of that. If they didn’t clear a spot somehow (I’d forgotten they signed Perez), I still think Mujica’s numbers don’t argue for a call up (although he has been doing better lately, true enough) and Mastny is on the 40-man, so is an option. Perhaps I should have put this differently—he’s been about the third or fourth best reliever at Buffalo this season.

Mujica gave up 10 runs in his first 8.2 IP this season, including 7 ER in one game.
Since then, he’s give up 2 runs in 17.1 IP with 18 K, over 13 games, and no home runs.

Well, those numbers don’t lie. I hadn’t realized his good stretch was that sustained. Maybe he’s ready for the majors, but Wedge would have to use him to make it worth calling him up. I may be wrong, but I seem to recall his previous call-ups haven’t gone well, which will probably cause Wedge to treat him like Breslow or Mastny.

I think his past callups didn’t go well because Wedge DID treat him like Breslow and Mastny, one appearance a week or less.

Yeah, that’s my recollection too. I also think I was at the game where he made his first major league appearance, after he ran off some kind of incredible scoreless string in the minors. He got called up and was put into a bases-loaded situation (might have been no outs too). He gave up some runs, got out of it, but was never really as effective after that and got pushed more and more to the back of the pen (eventually sent down). It was like they threw him in the deep end, then pretty quickly lost confidence in his ability to swim.

Mujica has the hot hand, all of a sudden, which is what gte619n is getting at, I think.
