This AB seems important.

The Disabled List just called ... it was trying to unload Joe Borowski. I offered a bagel but balked at giving up a ham sandwich. It wanted to keep Westbrook.

Don’t sweat it, it’s already gone.

What the hell, it’s not like we didn’t know you were drunk.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:54 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I’ve seen much worse. Not to worry.

by Julie on May 3, 2008 10:54 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Seems at least 50% likely that there could be more than one Casey Blake in the Des Moines area, right?

by NickFantana on May 3, 2008 10:51 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

So I’m trying this drinking, listening to the game, and commenting thing. I apologize in advance if I fail it up.

What the hell does “fail it up” mean?

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:51 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Heh, and I was admiring him for not saying “fuck.”

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 10:52 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Oooh. Jay just called you out for ALREADY failing it up!.

From Flight of the Conchords:

Brett: “Have you ever had a threesome?”

Jemaine: “Well, I’ve had a twosome.”

Is Hamish going to get a tractor?

Well yeah, he probably shouldn’t, he lives in the city.

I tell everyone I know that episode 1 might not be approached - by this show or any other - in terms of pure hilarity.

The authority with which the Indians struck the ball that inning will forever be imprinted in my brain.

by xrickx on May 3, 2008 10:51 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

It only seems that way now. You will in fact forget it the next time we win two games in a row.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:52 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Well.

Uhh.

That feels conclusionary.

Something of a first here … I’m posting while recording a jazz concert. Using a computer-based recording system, hooked up to some guy’s wifi.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:53 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

Cool. When you guys book new clients, do you go out and watch them play live? Probably a dumb quesiton.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 10:54 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I like to, but you’d be surprised, a lot times we don’t end up seeing an artist live until the CD release event. For others, seeing them live initiates the relationship. And many artists feel it’s really important that you would bother to come see them — something I actually agree with.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:58 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

My little not-at-all-serious acoustic project is going to record this year, and the dude from the studio has been out to see us. We felt it was pretty cool.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 11:00 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

You’re not coming here to Philly to record? I am so pissed!

by Jay on May 3, 2008 11:02 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I’d be pretty embarrassed to waste your time.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 11:03 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I keep sending Jay .wavs of my farts.

by afh4 on May 3, 2008 11:04 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I want him to mix them in to his next album.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 11:05 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Who’s playing the concert?

by NickFantana on May 3, 2008 10:56 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Jay is. While recording it, using a computer based recording system, hooked up to some guy’s wifi. And posting on LGT.

by afh4 on May 3, 2008 10:56 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

And drinking.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:57 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Isn’t he injured, waiting for Rashard Mendenhall to take his job?

I don’t know, he’s been playing the hell out of that double-bass for the better part of three hours now.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I’ve heard but not extensively listened to Parker but I love Baraka and Dave Burrell is one of my favorite pianists.

by NickFantana on May 3, 2008 10:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Really nice guy, too.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 10:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I really like his Little Huey Orchestra stuff, and his quartet work with David Ware (Matthew Shipp on piano and the incredible Susie Ibarra on drums).

And Ursula Rucker is good too.

by odradek on May 3, 2008 11:22 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Did you ever listen to Burrell’s Momentum album on High Two? Awesome.

by odradek on May 4, 2008 12:05 AM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

That’s actually one of my favorites, I can’t believe you called it out. This is cool.

by NickFantana on May 4, 2008 10:36 AM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Beats Phil Collins, I’d say…

by odradek on May 4, 2008 11:52 AM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

By roughly a factor of 10 but I don’t want to come off as a snob or anything.

by NickFantana on May 4, 2008 8:02 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

are you wearing zubas?

by Brick. on May 3, 2008 10:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I wasn’t offered any, but William’s is very impressive.

by Jay on May 3, 2008 11:00 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

IT LIVES.

by afh4 on May 3, 2008 11:00 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

By the way, why was everyone saying that Wedge left CC in too long? Was it because

1) Our bullpen is obviously stellar, or

2) We’re feeling results-oriented right about now

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 10:54 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

he was over 100 pitches, was getting hit hard, not sure if either of those is correct, whatever

The Indians are just trying to winnow out the front-running fans. That’s it.

by Julie on May 3, 2008 10:55 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

Brilliant! I support winnowing.

By the way, not a bad crowd given the crap weather that preceded the start.

We almost went to the drive-in but chickened out. Drive-ins in the rain kinda suck.

by Julie on May 3, 2008 10:58 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I dig rain, just not sitting in cars in the rain.

My wife (a photographer who recently quit her job as a forensic chemist) had to take pictures in the rain for three hours today. Pictures of uber-wealthy people watching the derby, straight out of the polo game scene from Pretty Woman.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 10:59 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

My husband is from Louisville, so we might have watched the Derby for his sake. I’m glad I didn’t, given the outcome.

by Julie on May 3, 2008 11:04 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Yeah, that was awful. It’s a reminder that, hey, racing is fun and all, but kind of animal cruelty.

by tabler84 on May 3, 2008 11:05 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I used to watch races on TV, and go with my dad on occasion. We saw a horrible accident years ago, and I’ve never been able to watch since. There are some images that I can’t ever get back out of my head.

by Julie on May 3, 2008 11:07 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I forgot what a lightweight I’ve turned into. This… might be a problem.

It might not be a problem if you are only drinking during the game, this one seems like it will end quickly.

by DaytonDogg on May 3, 2008 10:58 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I’m on my second and I’m already woozy. I’m serious. I haven’t gotten drunk since New Year’s two years ago.

You have to think of this as extended Spring Training. In a few weeks, you’ll be ready for a real game in which half a case gets consumed.
