I almost went.

The Disabled List just called ... it was trying to unload Joe Borowski. I offered a bagel but balked at giving up a ham sandwich. It wanted to keep Westbrook.

are you sitting next to pat tabler? is really gainfully employed as an annoucer somewhere? most importantly, does he still maintain one of the all-time mullets?

I think I read in the PD that Blake has the best career numbers against Halladay, albeit just 4-11. I do hope we see Marte twice this series, though it’s four tough righties in a row.

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:17 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Right, because we can really use Blake’s .238/.307/.413 line vs. RHP.

Over-under for Tribe runs in the series: 10

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:18 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I said a couple days ago that whatever the over/under for either team was this series I’d take the under.

Patience tonight boys…Doc averaging over 8 innings per start this year. And no, that first inning wasn’t what I had in mind.

Halladay’s been ridiculous this year. Perhaps another 1-0 game, this time for the good guys.

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:22 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, CC looked really good right away, but he’s having trouble with the fastball.

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:24 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah, when he limits falling off the mound, he’s better.

Thank you, Lyle.

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:25 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just feels that when the ball leaves his hand he’s praying he hits the strike zone. Contrast that to Cliff Lee who tells the ball where it better fucking go.

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:26 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

...and if it doesn’t, it’s in BIG trouble.

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:27 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He’s just not missing close to the zone, so there’s no reason to swing.

Ump’s helping CC out a bit I would say.

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

If so, marginally. That might have been an inch off the plate.

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:30 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Good pitch, regardless.

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:30 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

With this wildness I’m hesitant to say that CC actually meant to put it there. A strike’s a strike I guess.

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:31 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

5 K’s in 2 innings – if he gets this strike-throwing thing down, he could do much better…

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not sure about that.. If he starts throwing over the plate, bad things happen.

This is the second game of the night for me. Just got back from watching my brother’s HS team run rule the bad guys, 17-3. I would say let’s hope it’s a preview for the Tribe, but I cannot be that optimistic for some reason.

by Voltaire on May 9, 2008 7:37 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Man, can you pull off the ball any more, Gark?

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:38 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I have a question for Garko. If your swing is going to end with you in that position, what if you do actually make contact? How are you going to rebalance yourself to run to first?

by supermarioelia on May 9, 2008 7:38 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

He has no chance with that swing. Gotta go, take it from here all!

by TribeJay on May 9, 2008 7:38 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Have a good one. I have a feeling I’ll be talking to myself most of tonight.

Yeah, I’ve got a legit 9-to-5 now. (Technically 8-to-5, stupid industrial sales. :( ) So I’m mostly living weekend to weekend. Seen a couple minor league games, heading out to Cincinnati next weekend to see the guys. Adjusting to living about two hours further south than I used to. It’s weird.

I’ve actually been thinking of going back to school and getting certified to teach. I love tutoring, and I’m a pretty good teacher, but on the other hand, I hear teaching high school given the system as it is in the US right now is pretty much the most frustrating job ever.

Got a lot of friends who went that route. “Frustrating” sounds like a pretty accurate summary of their reactions to it. But I get the sense, it’s one of those things that if you’ve got to do it, you’re never going to be okay with something else.

I think once you get to 50,000 words it’s technically a novel, but most are longer than that, yes. I’m still trying to get to “novella.” It’s not an issue of being able to create a story that long, it’s a matter of, um, not getting bored with it before I’m done.

I think I’m a short story writer at heart.
