10 straight starts without a day-off for Blake. Perfectly justifiable.

by supermarioelia on Jun 11, 2008 6:49 PM EDT reply actions

In his last 12 games Blake is hitting .318/.400/.614.

by JesseAK on Jun 11, 2008 7:00 PM EDT up reply actions

So I guess he continues to play every day? This is what you’re advocating for?

by supermarioelia on Jun 11, 2008 7:14 PM EDT up reply actions

No, I am saying that there is justification for riding the hot hand. There was every reason in the world to bench him when he was stinking up the joint, but like it or not, he’s been pretty good at the plate of late.

Not to pile on, but honestly what do you want? If he plays well should we bench him then?

Barfield can’t swing bat today. Wedge suggests DL if he can’t swing tomorrow, would not be replaced by Cabrera.

I am amazed at the K-rate this team puts up in crucial situations. It’s as if a majority of PAs with runners on and one out result in strikeouts. It’s been a serious problem. Ks in and of themselves aren’t terrible, but the attendent benefits of that approach (putting a little more oomph in your swing for more power) aren’t there.

mark reynolds, 3B for AZ, had a 2-2 count. billy wagner threw a backfoot slider that actually hit reynolds on the foot. umpire said he faked it, and wouldn’t let him take first base. dbacks argue, no luck. now with a full count, reynolds hits one 430 feet to LCF to tie it.
