It may be some consolation that Buffalo has been using Jeff Stevens as a closer since Rick Bauer was called up. Small sample size and all that, but in 7 innings pitched, he’s given up 3 runs, all earned, on 4 hits and 2 walks. He has 9 Ks, 2 saves, an ERA of 3.86 and a WHIP of 0.86.

Tambien! It would be easier to accept Phillips’ complaint about the Tribe’s coaching staff if he hadn’t stunk things up so badly in Buffalo.

Pretty funny- I’m watching the Reds game right now. Phillips just stole second and the SS came across the bag to catch a late throw and Phillips just kept running towards third. Nobody was covering third because the third baseman was playing at SS (Dunn Shift). Wakefield ran over to third and got the throw and Phillips was out by 20 feet. Phillips, slid, and was tagged out 5 feet from the bag. He sat there for a second with a big huge smile on his face before Wakefield helped him up and he ran off the field.
Just thought it was notable, exactly what he was talking about in this interview. Tough to get mad at him for it, but Wedge probably would find the attitude unacceptable, at least he did in 5 years ago. By the way, Dunn hit a home run on the next pitch- so it cost the team a run.
