Rain halts Bisons, Concrete halts Snyder
The latest Bisons mishap came hours before the start of Monday night’s scheduled game against the Durham Bulls.|
Herd center fielder Brad Snyder was scratched from the lineup after he smacked his head on a concrete overhang in the clubhouse tunnel, becoming bloodied but not seriously injured.
Snyder was low-bridged when he sprinted full speed through the tunnel leading to the clubhouse.

"That’s frustrating," manager Torey Lovullo said.

Marte must have been REALLY bored in AAA to put up those kind of numbers.

I figure it can only help.
Snyder actually is a good case for bored-in-the-minors. His numbers dropped repeating Double-A in 2006 and Triple-A this year — but he is down there for his own good, getting the ABs. Based on his 2007 numbers, he’s good enough to be in the majors, but only as a 4th outfielder. A good question would be, why didn’t we trade him in the offseason?

i’m pretty sure I’m on record somewhere saying this. The Indians simply didn’t need to have 5 OFers at the big league level (Michaels, Dellucci, Sizemore, Gutierrez and Blake) in addition to 4 guys repeating at AAA (Francisco, Choo, Snyder, Cooper) who could all be 4th OFers or even partial replacements of the guys in Cleveland. Some of that depth was going to get wasted. Right now, it looks like that waste will include Michaels, Snyder and Cooper.

Cooper may hold the current record for games played in the organization without ever having been called up.
I guess the question I have is, could either Snyder or Cooper be the more useful left-handed bat off the bench than Dellucci? They’d be massively cheaper (though I realize there’s no scenario in which we get rid of DD without eating most of the contract), and I have to imagine both would be better defenders—or plus defenders, in Snyder’s case.
It’s probably irrelevant, but I think Dellucci quietly had the worst May on the team. Which is saying something.

Cooper, of course, gets another one of Ryan Garko’s former teammates on the team, so there’s that.

I would remind you, we traded Michaels. I can’t remember for what, but I’m sure it was someone or something really important. Possibly sunscreen.

a PTBNL, and we’re paying most of his salary.
If I were Shapiro, I’d hold out for a couple of cases of Iron City too.

Let’s not miss this opportunity. When Snyder comes to, we convince him he’s Matt Holliday and expected to get out there and rake.
