My random prediction of the game: Laffey will pick up 2 hits…everyone always talks about how athletic he is, so why not.

something missing in this lineup…hmm…what could it be…

by APV on Jun 18, 2008 8:24 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

You’re noticing our future 3B and LF.

Actually they may put up six runs with this line-up in Coors Field. Let’s watch.

better save the chickens…our bench is looking a little thin

by APV on Jun 18, 2008 8:37 PM EDT to parent up   1 recs

but didn’t they want droobs to loose some weight?

by oaksterdam on Jun 18, 2008 8:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Droobs is in Buffalo, though. So we’re safe.

Oooh, you mean for the guys to eat. I thought for a second the chickens were depth options.

Just to clarify, Russell Branyan sucks, right?

The 2008 Cleveland Indians: Home of the Triple Steal, Unassisted Triple Play, and not a heck of a lot more.

by westbrook on Jun 18, 2008 8:38 PM EDT   0 recs

not really…last season was the first season in his career that he received semi-regular playing time and failed to put up an OPS+ over 100. He’s pretty much always had monster power, a huge K-rate, a low batting average, but a decent walk-rate. His career line is .231/.329/.487. That’s not a line without some value if properly used.

by APV on Jun 18, 2008 8:42 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

this is probably true, but would any team with a good shot at the postseason want him playing in more than 2/3 of their games?

The 2008 Cleveland Indians: Home of the Triple Steal, Unassisted Triple Play, and not a heck of a lot more.

by westbrook on Jun 18, 2008 8:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

2/3 might be on the high end, if only because his defense is less than stellar. But he displays enough power against RHP and LHP to be a semi-regular against righties and a late-inning pinch-hitter.

by APV on Jun 18, 2008 8:48 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Woulda thunk in 2008 Richie Sexson would be broken and Russell Braynan is thriving.

Actually, that pic reminds me that Guido Fonseca started tonight for Mahoning Valley—went 3 decent innings, 5 K’s.

White Sox are up 2-0 in the 3rd. Tigers already won today.

Beau Mills goes deep (#9)

by APV on Jun 18, 2008 8:54 PM EDT   0 recs

RP: Derrick Turnbow, Milwaukee, $3.37 million – The Brewers should have just designated him for assignment before the season. Instead, they got 25 baserunners in 6 1/3 innings before they sent him to Triple-A, where he’s now trying to become a starter. He has walked 30 in 11 1/3 innings.

Holy crap! I used to like watching him pitch last year.

by Toxicadam on Jun 18, 2008 8:56 PM EDT   0 recs

Taveras and Ichiro are both 30/32 in stolen base attempts in 2008. That’s some speed.
