Cito Gaston??? OK. I guess Roger Craig wasn’t interested.
So this must be “fire the manager” week. Good thing Wedge has nothing to worry about.

It seems to me that Cito’s name had been brought up before for managerial positions, but he didn’t want to leave a front office-type job with the Jays. Could be my faulty memory, though.

Since it doesn’t seem likely to be Eric Wedge, I’d say that yes, Ned Yost is probably next.

With the Canadian and US dollars at par these days, we shouldn’t make fun of loonies and toonies. At least the Canadians had the sense to make the dollar into a coin!!!

i hate that. hated the 1 and 2 euro coins, too. you’d buy a beer with a 20 and suddenly have 8 pounds of change that barely fits in your pockets

I have that problem after I have a beer here too. Of course, it’s just the pleat of the pants.

At least you’d be buying another beer or five in the next 30 minutes.
Imagine going to an RTA station and paying for a day pass in the machine with a $20 bill, only to have it spit 16 Susan B. Anthonies at you that you won’t use except when you owe someone for a bet.
You know Selig? Ombudsman.

eh, in theory it makes sense, but in practice, who wants to carry all those coins around?

while it would suck to carry all the coins around, the coins actually would last and not have to be constantly replaced like the government currently does.

Exactly. And, we could also do what some European countries have done (e.g., the Dutch), who have abolished the penny—they just round up or down on items that are still priced in non-multiples of 5. It works. Pennies cost more to make than they are actually worth.

We just have to make sure Richard Pryor doesn’t get a hold of all of those rounded-down pennies.

I understand, but people didn’t exactly embrace the dollar coin the last time it was introduced (the one with Sacagewea on the front).

Oh I know that Ryan … it just seems silly the amount of $$ wasted (not to mention the environmental impact) on keeping the $1 bill in circulation.
