It's All Over
I can't imagine why nobody beat me to this one. Even the always optomistic Terry Pluto is calling it a season.

I saw it this morning, but didn’t really think he covers anything new (that we haven’t belabored here on the site).
I think Terry threw in the towel when he posted that article about the bullpen situation and then saw how it played out this week (with the bullpen causing more games to become out of reach).
I still think there is a sliver of hope. We have the Dodgers/Giants and Reds coming up. Teams that are beatable. Obviously, we would need to go 8-2 or something like that and then we would have the White Sox. That’s the kind of run we would need to change my opinion of the season.
It’s just hard to imagine that happening.
I have to admit that I’m torn between the irrational optimism that comes with being a Cleveland sports fan and the abject fatalism that also comes with being a Cleveland sports fan.

What about irrational optimism over the players we’ll get in the coming trades? I’m kind of looking forward to it. There could be like a 10-player turnaround by August.

That’s one way of maintaining some irrational optimism in the face of abject fatalism. Cognitive dissonance, get thee gone!

I also won’t link the Pawl Hoines piece that spells it Antonelli in the title. I my spelling issues, but it’s not my job to spell the names of the people i interview correctly.
I’m delusional from the Fasano thing so please disregard everything past this sentence.
As of today, I’m growing a stache. It will be glorious.
Borowski goes out with an “injury” comes back and he’s better than he has ever been with the Indians. Is it possible that Hafner and Martinez are just fatiqued from last year and will return to old form after their rest? Is it possible that Betancourt needs rest as well? Are these dead topics? If they did return to form, is 60 and 29 over the the rest of the season too optimistic?
As I reach for the ground here, am I being too optimistic in thinking this team doesn’t need much and that next year will be better?
I’m blathering aren’t I? Ok, I’m done. BARTENDER!

I enjoy them very much, but I understand why the mood meter and the weekly roundups have disappeared. I have one little nugget of hope for this season, and that Jay’s summaries will return.
Now for my Bob Costas impression:
And here come the Indians
The summaries will return shortly. My brother is getting married tonight, so I’ve been quite wrapped up with the family and festivities for most of the past two weeks, just dropping by here to throw in a comment or two. Seems like I’ll return to more regular posting just in time for the team to be blown up.
There’s a gem buried in the comments.
