Sheehan article on the Tribe situation.
Thinking they should be buying, not selling. Interesting.....

I saw that as well. . .
Does anyone else think that we can move Sabathia and still contend this year?
I’d love for us to cut a deal with the Dodgers—something along the lines of Loney and Broxton for Sabathia. Once Carmona returns (provided he’s not completely off-the-wall awful), we could still have a shot in this crummy division with that kind of move.

It’s a catch-22, because a team that is likely to trade for Sabathia is less likely to trade away their everyday players.
For us to be a contender, we would need for our injured players to come back and perform well and some of the young guys in AAA (Stevens, Huff) to come up and help out.
That’s a lot of ifs .. but also something that would need to happen if we kept CC.
Based on the way the LA broadcasters were talking about Loney—e.g., Loney’s Lounge and his role in the RBI program—it seems doubtful the Dodgers would trade him.
Well, if they’d hesitate to trade Loney because of his work in the RBI program, wouldn’t they be attracted to C.C. for the same reasons?
Assuming… the front office considers this at all.
You know Selig? Ombudsman.
I like how Sheehan writes that article while his website says we have a 4% chance of making the playoffs (I think I’m reading that right).
There are 2 reasons why I say sell (which I fully admit are really more personal and are probably not shared by most people).
First, this isn’t like last year or 2005, where we haven’t/hadn’t tasted the playoffs in multiple years….
Secondly, and this extends off the first reason, we just got to the ALCS; I know the playoffs is an 8-team crapshoot. But I’m struggling to see how this team pulls a 1997 and wins it all (or should have won it all) with all of the injuries and unknowns. Because we just had 2007, I don’t want to exhaust all resources to just “get in” when the strong likelihood is we couldn’t be the 2006 Cardinals.
It’s interesting that you mention the ‘06 Cardinals, because watching that team (even in the playoffs) I kept thinking “wow this team isn’t very good”. But they kept playing just good enough to win games, and it left them with a huge payoff.
The 2008 Cleveland Indians: Home of the Triple Steal, Unassisted Triple Play, and not a heck of a lot more.
Doesn’t Sheehan love the Tigers. I think this is a ploy by him to get us to keep CC and lose him in FA without getting anything back to help us next year. There I said it. Never trust a man without a shirt and never trust a Tigers’ fan.

Because I’m sure Shapiro is likely to be swayed by something written on the internet.

That’s probably why he makes the big bucks and I’m here trusting Tigers fans.

I’ve made it my personal rule to cease and desist any conversation with a person that discloses or has been identified as a potential Tigers fan. I’ve seen too many people end up poor and on the streets after talking to Tigers fans. Wall Street types living in homes made out of boxes after taking stock tips from Tigers fans, Hollywood actor types relegated to doing porn films to just make ends meat after taking acting direction from Tigers fans…a sad story each and every one of them.
Coincidentally, “Making Ends Meat” is one of my favorite pornos of all time.
And I’m traditionally not that into gay porn.
Let's Go 2009!
