Keep asking myself why do I follow each game, must be less painful to simply check the scores after the event.
One day I'll get over to watch the Tribe play

Anybody know if Cleveland and SF have a mutual off day if this game doesn’t get played?
"It's hard to win when you don't score." Cliff Lee, 9/28/05.
Answered my own question. Off mutual off days are:
7/7 b/w Min and Det – Giants travel from SF to NYM
8/7 b/w TB and Tor – Giants b/w homestands
8/28 b/w @CWS and @KC – Giants travel from Col to SF
9/4 b/w v.CWS and @KC – Giants travel from Col to Pit
So it looks like 9/4 is the only viable make up date.

For those listening to the radio guys tap dance, I’ve posted a fan shot to the Newark Star Ledger story mentioned about the Indians trying to resign CC.

Good Lord Jesus, Perralta’s battin clean up! Just when you think you’ve seen every conceivable Indians absurdity they come up with a topper!

Somebody on that mlb chat thing says the game is called?
Not that I really trust “mullmonk” in the mlb chat thing but…does anybody know?
Shrugs.
When you go into that mlb chat thing there are a bunch of different rooms, which are called “sections” and shaped like a ballpark. So there were three people in the whole thing and we were all assigned to different sections. I had to click over to find mullmonk.
What exactly is the point of that?
I’m pretty meh on this Beasley pick. Reilly’s going to hate him.
O.J. Mayo looks cool in those glasses.
Have they shortened the clock?
Yeah, 5 minutes seems quick. I mean, the NFL draft was 15 before this year! But I don’t know if the NBA has changed theirs.
by Buckeye Brad on Jun 26, 2008 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions
Ugh. The NFL draft is gross.
Except for the part where Karl Malone’s son, whom he fathered with a 13 year old girl when he was a sophomore in college, was picked by the Bills.
A 13 year old. How is this guy not in jail?
“Must Improve: Defense”
So the #2 overall pick must improve his play in a full half of what basketball is. Huh.
Agreed, it’s not a given but if he has a good work ethic, it can be done. He doesn’t need to be a lock-down defender, just average
he’s going to get torched. 5 is so absurdly high for him…at least the Grizz have a strong nucleus around him…

But if you need someone to make a full-court shot, he’s the man.
by Buckeye Brad on Jun 26, 2008 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions
Nah. Rasheed Wallace. Have you seen that video of his trick shots? I guess he shoots these things all the time-that underhand 3/4 courter he made in a game, he can make shots from the tunnell pretty consistently and, this is my favorite, he can shoot three pointers at about a 70% rate with his off hand (undefended of course).
Yeah, but he’ll probably be kicked out of the game by halftime.

They just traded for Richard Jefferson; I don’t know why they need this guy. Especially with Brook Lopez on the board

Me too. Like I said above, they just traded for Richard Jefferson so I don’t know why they need him. There are some good PG on the board, or Brook Lopez.

Saw Rich Harden dominate the Phillies today, 7th QS in his last 8 starts, 2H in 8 innings, 11K
Phillies were shut out 5-0, the 3rd time they have been shut out in June. Even the Indians have not been shut out since May 12.
In the heart of IL play, the NL East seems to be going the way of the NL West.
this is phenomenal…i feel like i’m playing RBI Baseball

He’s a project but has a lot of potential. Most mock drafts had him going to the Warriors at 14 but they passed on him, so he may be there.
by Buckeye Brad on Jun 26, 2008 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions
That’s true, also. Hibbert is a guy who could play right away.

no thanks on koufos. 7 footer who is mostly a shooter, doesn’t really like to mix it up inside, and plays little d. we have one of those.

Did you read the Bill Simmons mock draft on espn.com? He was shocked that Koufus was American.

They have some good stuff on the web (I’m an insider so I can read Rob Neyer, and they’ve added a lot of Scouts, Inc. stuff about pro and college football that’s good).

I would be happy with Chalmers from Kansas to play PG, or Koufus, Spaghets from Florida, or Roy Hibbert from Georgetown. We need big men because all of ours are old (and Varejeo might get traded).

i’m not that high on chalmers and i honestly think hibbert would be a disaster. if donte greene or darrell arthur are there you have to go with one of them

Cavs on the clock, and Koufus is still on the board. I’ll say they take him. They’re looking for that coveted Canton-Akron connection.
I’ve never seen him play, but the scouting reports I just read seemed good. I’m willing to give Ferry the benefit of the doubt. I wonder if they were intending to maybe take a wing like CDR here and trade back in to the top of the 2nd round for hickson and it fell through.
One thing is for sure—jj hickson won’t be the only new face in a cavs uni come November.
We don’t know that yet. We’ll have to wait and see how he plays. I don’t know anything about him.

obviously that’s just my opinion. but i see an undersized guy with a very limited offensive game. and given my man crush on darrell arthur, i can’t believe this.

I know nothing about him. Never heard his name mentioned with the Cavs.

Geez Cliff Lee.
If his ERA stays under 3.25 does he have a shot at the Cy?
Probably not with Kazmir and Tampa going to the playoffs.
can we have a discussion about whether i should fully buy into this dominant incarnation of cliff lee? i love it, but i’ve still got a little skepticism color my lenses when i watch him

so, hafner’s mini bobblehead is doubly mini. it’s a little guy with a little boucing head, but the it also looks nothing like hafner’s body. it’s got grady’s build, not pronk’s.
why not PH for Looch?

NBA Draft update—beginning of the second round, and Christ Douglas-Roberts and Mario Chalmers are still available. I’d love for the Cavs to work out a trade for either one of them. I think that CDR can be a good scorer in the NBA; a guy that can create his own shot. And the Cavs need that.
*Chris, not Christ. He’s not that good!

JJ Hickson? Never heard of him before, but Bilas liked him. He even mentioned him before the Cavs made the pick. He’s just a freshman, says the knock on him is he’s short at 6’9”, but he can plays good defense, is athletic, and a good scorer.
Here’s what Chad Ford said: “But I do like Hickson, who’s a sleeper. He’s strong and athletic and he can score in multiple ways.”

I’ve been out of town for about a week, but I have no recollection of this Damaso Espino that is listed as a sub on Gamecenter. Did I miss something?
He’s a minor league catcher the Indians picked up from the Royals and put at Akron a week or two ago when Vic went on the DL and Haad was called up from Buffalo.
no, silly. they’ll have to trade us two pitchers, since they’ll be getting one back.

I blamed Dellucci’s 2007 struggles on injury. Scary. Compare his numbers from 2007 and 2008. I probably should have just gone with “not good.”

Are we at the point where we just have to accept about an error per game from Casey? He is so reliably bad, I don’t even blame him for it he just can’t field that position.
No they don’t, they run perpendicular but never reach eachother. Sedgwick is like 3 stops south from Belmont on the red, and it’s my favorite one to look out the windows for. The houses and apartments are pretty sick, and yes I’m in school. I’m predicting an extended Chicago sojourn upon graduation.
Shouldn’t Marte at least be a late-inning defensive replacement at this point?
Also, good win guys.

I was at the game last night (which was fun—nice crowd. A lot of kids and mostly Indians fans, for a change!!). A few things that struck me:
a. Lee was lights out. Great command and changed speeds really well. The Giants didn’t have a chance.
b. Peralta seemed unusually quick in the field. He made a nice play on a ground ball up the middle by Winn and turned a DP on Omar with NOTICEABLE enthusiasm.
c. The Indians still can’t hit. Leadoff man to second with no one out in the first two innings, and couldn’t even advance him to third. Cain was getting hammered, but they let him off the hook (especially Francisco, Garko and Dellucci).
d. Garko is back to his upper cut swing. Dellucci is horrible.
e. Jamey Carroll seemed to be acting like a team leader—next he’ll be wielding shaving cream pies.
Nice to see a win for a change. Can we sweep the Reds (or at least take a game off them?)
